Saipem, based in Milan with a hybrid working model, seeks a Senior AI Solution Architect to lead AI initiatives from architecture to production. You will guide the AI Lab, collaborate with business, IT and security, and own end-to-end delivery of complex Azure-based solutions.

The role requires 5+ years in solution architecture or AI engineering, strong cloud expertise (Azure), and fluency in Italian and English. Knowledge of EU AI Act and MLOps is highly valued.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in solution architecture, software development or AI engineering with leadership experience.
• Fluent Italian and English.
• Strong cloud experience (Azure preferred) including Azure AI, OpenAI, AI Foundry, API Management.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, IaC and MLOps pipelines.

Purpose of the position

As Senior AI Solution Architect

you will be the technical reference point for Saipem’s AI Lab within the Digital and IT environment. You will own AI initiatives end-to-end, from solution architecture and project governance to production release, while guiding the internal technical team across the full development lifecycle. The role combines architecture, delivery and governance, with direct engagement with business, IT and security stakeholders.

How can you support us?

• Lead and oversee AI projects with full technical ownership across the Azure ecosystem, DevOps pipelines, LLM integration, networking and solution architecture.
• Drive project governance through milestone planning and tracking, risk management and stakeholder reporting.
• Ensure AI governance, data security and compliance with enterprise policies and applicable EU AI Act requirements.
• Guide and mentor the internal technical team throughout project development cycles, fostering growth and shared engineering practices.
• Design scalable and secure end-to-end solution architectures using Azure AI and OpenAI services, API Management, networking and MLOps capabilities.

What are we looking for?

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent discipline.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, software development or AI engineering, including technical leadership and responsibility for releasing solutions to production.

Languages: Fluent Italian and English.

Technical/IT Skills: Strong command of the cloud ecosystems (Azure preferable), including Azure AI / OpenAI / AI Foundry, API Management, networking and identity; experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and MLOps pipelines; expertise in LLM integration, RAG architectures and agentic or multi-step systems; ability to design secure enterprise integrations and production-grade solution architectures; knowledge of EU AI Act requirements; experience with Microsoft Copilot and low-code platforms in an enterprise context.

Leadership and ways of working: Project governance capability, including milestone planning, risk management and stakeholder reporting; ability to guide and mentor a technical team; excellent communication skills and ability to bridge IT and business.

What else should you know?

• The position is based in Milan and follows a hybrid working model.
• The role requires cross-functional collaboration with business units, IT and security functions.
• The role includes technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities within the AI Lab.
• Experience or knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Engineering sector is considered a plus.
• Azure certifications, for example Azure Solutions Architect, AI Engineer or DevOps Engineer are considered a plus.
