Saipem in Milan seeks a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join the AI Lab within the Digital and IT unit. You will design and productionize AI-powered workflows that automate IT and business processes, integrating models, orchestration and enterprise systems.

You will analyze processes for AI opportunities, design multi-step workflows, and implement integrations with APIs and Azure while monitoring performance and documenting architectures. Fluency in Italian and English is required.

Competenze

Purpose of the position

As Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will be part of Saipem’s structured AI LAB department within the Digital and IT unit. You will design, manage and bring to production intelligent workflows that automate IT and business processes, integrating AI models, task orchestration and enterprise systems.

How can you support us?

Analyze processes and identify AI automation opportunities.

Design multi-step and agentic AI workflows and integrate them with enterprise systems, APIs and Azure services.

Automate tasks and decision management, implementing appropriate controls and fallbacks.

Monitor quality, performance and exceptions.

Document solution architectures and process flows.

What are we looking for?

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

Background: 1–3 years of experience in software development, automation or applied AI. Academic projects, internships and thesis work involving APIs, cloud technologies or workflows will also be considered.

Languages: Italian and English proficiency level.

Technical/IT Knowledge: Python or comparable development skills; basic knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering or automation; experience with APIs, cloud technologies or workflow solutions; ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

What else should you know?

• The position is based in Milan and follows a hybrid working model.
• The role requires close collaboration with both IT and business stakeholders.
• Experience or knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Engineering sector is considered a plus.
• Experience with Copilot, Azure or low-code platforms.
