Saipem is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Senior Engineer to lead the design and production deployment of intelligent workflows that automate IT and business processes, integrating AI models, task orchestration, Azure services, APIs and enterprise systems.

You will work with engineering, procurement, operations, IT and business stakeholders to turn high-impact use cases into scalable, governed solutions within a hybrid Milan-based environment.

Competenze

• 5+ years in software development, automation or applied AI.
• Experience delivering production-grade solutions in enterprise contexts.
• Languages: Fluent Italian and English.

• Assess complex processes, identify high-value AI automation opportunities and translate business needs into solution requirements and delivery roadmaps.
• Design and lead the implementation of multi-step and agentic AI workflows integrated with enterprise systems, APIs, data sources and Azure services.

Purpose of the position

As Forward Deployed AI Senior Engineer, you will be part of Saipem’s structured AI adoption program within the Digital and IT environment. You will lead the design and production deployment of intelligent workflows that automate IT and business processes, integrating AI models, task orchestration, Azure services, APIs and enterprise systems. The role works closely with engineering, procurement, operations, IT and business stakeholders to turn high-impact use cases into governed, scalable and maintainable solutions.

What are we looking for?

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

Experience: 5+ experience in software development, automation or applied AI, with direct responsibility for designing and delivering production-grade solutions in enterprise contexts.

Languages: Fluent Italian and English.

Technical/IT Skills: Strong development skills, for example Python; experience with APIs, cloud technologies and workflow solutions; knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering and automation; ability to design enterprise integrations and translate business requirements into technical architectures. Experience with Azure, Copilot or low-code platforms is valued.

Leadership and ways of working: Ability to coordinate cross-functional delivery, influence IT and business stakeholders, communicate technical trade-offs clearly and support less experienced colleagues.

What else should you know?

• The position is based in Milan and follows a hybrid working model.
• The role requires close collaboration with IT and business stakeholders across engineering, procurement and operations.
• Experience or knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Engineering sector is considered a plus.
