Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Milan is seeking a Groups Sales & Events Manager to lead groups and events sales and operations within the Events Department. The role reports to the Hotel Manager and focuses on delivering legendary service for luxury events in a top Milan location.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in groups/events/catering, fluency in English and Italian, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a collaborative leadership style.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of experience in groups, events, catering and conference services management or as an event manager.
• Luxury hotel experience strongly preferred; Milan F&B knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Events team in driving group bookings and events.
• Conduct site visits and ensure luxury service standards.
• Maintain client communications and tailor offers with a sales approach.
• Prepare Banquet Event Orders, group resumes and business correspondence.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure smooth execution of events.
• Manage approvals, permits and insurance requirements for events.
• Develop sales training material based on performance metrics.

About the Job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Milan within the Events Department in Milan, the Groups Sales & Events Manager is responsible for groups and events sales and operations. The Groups Sales & Events Manager reports to the Hotel Manager.

As Groups Sales & Events Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties

• Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement;
• Carries out site visits as per company standards;
• Ensure a “sales” approach in every lead, customizing offers and ensuring that a luxury and positive attitude is always maintained;
• Conducts weekly Group/event meetings with the team and other departments;
• Generates Banquet Event Orders, Groups Resumes and business correspondence.
• Maintain an active trace system for all assigned groups. Compiles all internal database ensuring time efficiency and data accuracy as per MO policies
• Obtain necessary approvals/permits/insurance certificates for events that are required
• Contract business with approved vendors, as appropriate.
• Develop Sales Team training courses based on current performance.

As Groups Sales & Events Manager, we expect from you

• Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in groups, events, catering and conference services manager or event manager; luxury hotel experience, (and City of Milan F&B Knowledge preferably) is strongly preferred;
• Excellent communication skills; fluency in English and Italian is required;
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks;
• Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
