Job summary

Amazon is seeking a hands-on Data Center Chief Engineer in the Greater Milan Area to maintain peak performance of electrical, mechanical and life-safety systems across AWS facilities. You will lead daily operations, mentor EOTs, manage large-scale projects from concept to completion, and act as the main technical resource for site reliability.

The role requires reading SLDs, coordinating with contractors, and delivering cost-efficient improvements while ensuring strict safety standards.

Qualifications

Proven electrical and mechanical knowledge for data center equipment.
Ability to read electrical diagrams and schematics.
Strong documentation and incident-reporting skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of data center electrical and mechanical equipment.
Operate independently with limited direct management.
Escalate and troubleshoot facility issues to maintain site stability.
Lead root cause analyses of equipment failures.
Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for PM and projects.
Develop new standard operating procedures for teams.
Provide training and assist in recruiting efforts.
Ensure safety procedures are followed by all staff.
Manage change workflows using internal systems.
Report weekly on equipment availability metrics.
Communicate complex tech details to non-technical audiences.
