Saipem in Milan is seeking a Buyer to join the Supply Chain Function for Sustainable Infrastructure. You will check Purchase Requisitions, define tender strategies, and manage supplier qualification for complex infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Economics, 3–5 years of buying experience, fluent English, and experience with SAP, SAP Ariba Sourcing, Synergo or JAGGAER; MS Office skills are required.

Competenze

• Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Economics.
• 3–5 years of buying experience in complex infrastructure projects, ideally railway/metro in Italy.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience with procurement platforms (SAP, SAP Ariba Sourcing, Synergo, JAGGAER) and Italian public procurement rules.

• Check the completeness and consistency of Purchase Requisitions and define tender strategy in collaboration with the Requesting Units.
• Launch market analyses and supplier scouting to identify new suppliers and initiate their qualification process.
• Manage the bidding process in compliance with procedures and provided systems and tools.
• Prepare the commercial/economic bid tabulation, select the supplier, negotiate terms and issue the Contract.
• Archive the contractual documentation.

Purpose of the position:

As Buyer you will be part of Supply Chain Function serving Sustainable Infrastructure Business Line.

How can you support us?

• Check the completeness and consistency of Purchase Requisitions (e.g., quality requirements, HSE requirements, etc.) and define the most appropriate tender strategy (e.g., market approach, list of suppliers to be involved, etc.) in collaboration with the Requesting Units.
• Where required, launch market analyses and scouting campaigns to identify new suppliers and initiate their qualification process.
• Manage the bidding process in compliance with procedures and provided systems and tools.
• Prepare the commercial/economic bid tabulation, select the supplier, negotiate contractual terms and conditions in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions and Project Special Conditions, and issue the Contract.
• Archive the contractual documentation.

What are we looking for?

Education: Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering, or Economics.

Background: 3–5 years of previous experience as a Buyer, preferably in multinational companies. The candidate should have managed the same activities within complex infrastructure construction sites, ideally railway and/or metro projects in Italy.

Languages: good proficiency in both written and spoken English.

Technical/IT Knowledge: proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with industry-standard procurement and enterprise management platforms (e.g., SAP, SAP Ariba Sourcing, Synergo, JAGGAER, etc.). Familiarity with Italian public procurement and anti-mafia regulations.

What else should you know? The role will be based in Milan, with the opportunity to travel occasionally to project sites in Italy or abroad.
