Job Summary
The Store In-Charge will be responsible for end-to-end plant store operations at thelubricants and grease manufacturing facility in Taloja, with core responsibilities ofinventory management, material receipt and issue, documentation, and coordination with cross-functional team.
This role will involve managing raw materials, base oils, additives, packaging materials (drums, IBCs, Sticker, bottles, caps, cartons), and finished goods, by applying basic store and inventory management principles.It also requires working closely with the Purchase, Production, Quality and Accounts teams to understand requirements of minimum and maximum stock level of repetitive items.
The ideal candidate should have experiencemaintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring batch/lot traceability, managing safe storage of hazardous products, and coordinating with Production, QA/QC, Purchase, and Sales to prevent stock-outs and compliance gaps.
1. Receiving & Material Inspection
- Receive base oils, additives, and packaging materials; verify physical quantities, batch/lot numbers, and manufacturing/expiry dates against Purchase Orders and Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
- Update details of all received material on company ERP and maintain a proper track record.
- Release materials into stock only after QA/QC approval; clearly isolate and segregate rejected or quarantined inventory.
- Issue debit notes for returned or rejected materials and coordinate their return.
2. Inventory Control
- Maintain real-time ERP records for raw materials, packaging supplies, WIP, and finished goods, including generating Material Receipt Notes (MRN).
- Implement strict FIFO/FEFO/LIFOpractices, especially for shelf-life-sensitive additives and finished products.
- Track batch and lot numbers from receipt to dispatch to guarantee complete end-to-end product traceability.
- Monitor minimum stock levels, flag potential shortages to Purchase, and issue debit notes for returned/rejected materials.
3. Safety & Organization
- Enforce safe storage and handling practices for liquid products, adhering to MSDS/SDS guidelines and fire safety norms for bulk oil and drum storage areas.
- Implement barcode tagging and labelling systems across storage zones.
- Maintain clean, visually organized stores that meet ISO, pollution control, and EHS audit standards.
4. Logistics & Dispatch
- Fulfil production indents accurately for base oils, additives, packaging material and consumables to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing schedules.
- Prepare delivery notes, Delivery Challans (DC), and Stock Transfer Notes (STN) for inventory transfers.
- Track all inventory movements including receipts, issues, and internal transfers
- Prepare monthly MIS reports on non-moving/slow-moving stock.
- Oversee warehouse equipment, including transfer equipment and ensure their proper maintenance
- Run warehouse management systems through barcoding function
5. Operations Management
- Manage daily tasks-basedSOPs, safety, and barcode/ERP tools.
- Oversee routine maintenance and upkeep of warehouse handling equipment (forklifts, drum handlers, pumps).
- Liaise with production to ensure materials are available and with the sales department regarding the status of finished goods
- Coordinate decisions to retain/sell scrap with reporting manager
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelors Degree (B.Com, B.Sc, or equivalent).
- Experience: 2–5 years in inventory/store operations, ideally within lubricant, petrochemical, chemical, or automotive plants.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Excel, MS Word, and barcode scanning systems.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Experience with Odoo ERP is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of inventory best practices and lot/batch traceability.
- Strong cross-functional coordination, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
