Job Summary

The Store In-charge is responsible for the efficient management of the company's stores and warehouse operations, including receiving, inspection coordination, storage, inventory control, material issue, documentation, and dispatch of raw materials, components, consumables, tools, packaging materials, and finished goods. The role requires maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring uninterrupted material availability for production while minimizing excess stock, shortages, damage, and inventory discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day stores operations in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Receive incoming raw materials, components, spare parts, consumables, and other materials against purchase orders and delivery documents.
  • Coordinate with Purchase, Quality, Production, PPC, Maintenance, and Accounts departments for material receipt and clearance.
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, coding, storage, and location of all materials.
  • Maintain accurate GRN (Goods Receipt Note), material receipt, issue, transfer, and dispatch records.
  • Issue materials to production and other departments against authorized material requisitions.
  • Maintain appropriate FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of critical materials.
  • Conduct daily/weekly/monthly stock verification and cycle counting and investigate inventory variances.
  • Maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder levels for critical materials.
  • Ensure proper segregation of OK, rejected, hold, obsolete, and excess materials.
  • Coordinate with Quality for inspection, rejection, quarantine, and disposition of incoming materials.
  • Prevent material damage, deterioration, pilferage, and unauthorized movement.
  • Maintain proper storage conditions for automotive components and materials.
  • Monitor and control slow-moving, non-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous/flammable materials, where applicable, in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in Microsoft Excel / ERP or other inventory management systems.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on stock position, material movement, shortages, excess stock, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Support physical inventory audits, internal audits, customer audits, and IATF-related requirements.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S within the stores and warehouse.
  • Train and supervise store assistants, material handlers, stacker handlers, and other stores personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures related to safety, quality, security, and inventory control.
  • Coordinate material movement between stores, production lines, sub-stores, and dispatch areas.
  • Develop and implement measures to improve inventory accuracy, storage utilization, material traceability, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of batch/lot numbers, heat numbers, serial numbers, and other identification details wherever required.

Required Qualifications

Graduation (Any Specialization)

Experience
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in Stores / Materials Management, preferably in an automotive, auto-component, or engineering manufacturing company.
  • Experience in handling raw materials, bought-out components, consumables, spares, WIP, and finished goods is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP inventory transactions and stock control is desirable.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, 5S, FIFO, Kanban, JIT, and Lean Manufacturing is an advantage.
