Job summary

Z Ventures in Vadodara is seeking a meticulous Inventory Control Specialist to oversee receiving against purchase orders, verify quantity, dimensions, grade, heat numbers and MTCs, and quarantine any item lacking valid certification to maintain product integrity.

The role requires maintaining heat-number registers, colour coding, and ERP stock records, ensuring separation of carbon steel and alloy materials, and supervising controlled stores for welding consumables with batch-wise reconciliation

Qualifications

• Must read drawings and cutting plans accurately.
• Strong experience with ERP inventory modules.
• Familiarity with IS 2062, SA-series steels, and welding consumables storage.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming material against purchase orders; verify quantity and certifications.
• Maintain material identification and traceability system (heat-number registers, MTC files, colour coding).
• Ensure proper storage segregation for carbon steel and alloys; enforce tooling segregation.
• Operate controlled stores for welding consumables and run batch-controlled ovens.
• Store abrasive and paint in temperature-controlled conditions with documented limits.
• Hold SDS for paints and chemicals and maintain abrasive/paint issue system.
• Issue material against cutting plans/work orders; reconcile issue, consumption, and scrap.
• Maintain ERP stock records; manage minimum/reorder levels for consumables.
• Conduct perpetual and periodic stock verification; explain discrepancies.
• Control scrap/offcut yard; classify, record, and account for disposal.
• Plan and execute despatch; packing, marking, e-way bill, delivery challan, invoicing.
• Ensure final documentation dossier accompanies every despatch.
• Coordinate with Purchase on delivery follow-up and vendor notes.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Receive incoming material against the purchase order; verify quantity, dimensions, grade, heat number and mill test certificate, and reject or quarantine any item without valid certification.
• Maintain the material identification and traceability system - heat-number registers, MTC files and colour coding - and ensure identification is transferred by hard punch or low-stress punch before every cutting operation.
• Maintain separate storage for carbon steel and for stainless, duplex, copper-nickel and other alloy material, with closed storage for fittings and alloy items, and enforce tooling segregation to prevent iron contamination.
• Operate a separate, controlled store for welding consumables, air-conditioned where non-vacuum-packed consumables are held, and run the baking oven, holding oven and portable oven cycle with batch control and issue-return reconciliation.
• Store abrasive in covered condition and paint in a temperature-controlled store with the storage temperature recorded; maintain project identification on all abrasive and paint material.
• Hold and issue the technical data sheet and material safety data sheet for every paint and chemical held, and operate a documented abrasive and paint issue system.
• Issue material against approved cutting plans and work orders; reconcile issue, consumption, offcut return and scrap for every job.
• Maintain accurate stock records in the ERP and operate minimum and reorder levels for consumables, gases, abrasives, paint, spares and safety items.
• Conduct perpetual and periodic physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies with documented explanation.
• Control the scrap and offcut yard; classify, record, reuse where possible and account for scrap disposal.
• Plan and execute despatch - packing, marking, preservation, loading, lashing, e-way bill, delivery challan, invoice coordination and transporter management.
• Ensure the final documentation dossier released by Quality accompanies every despatch.
• Coordinate with Purchase on delivery follow-up, short supply, rejection return and vendor debit notes.

Preferred candidate profile

• Working knowledge of ERP inventory modules and disciplined transaction hygiene.
• Ability to read a drawing and a cutting plan well enough to issue the right material.
• Familiarity with IS 2062, SA-series, stainless and duplex grades and their identification and storage requirements.
• Knowledge of welding consumable storage, baking and holding requirements and of the reason for them.
