Job summary

Source-Right invites a Tool & Die Design Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Chennai. The role focuses on 3D die design and drafting for casting tool design using Catia, NX or SolidWorks, with knowledge of press types and automation.

The candidate will specify materials, prepare detail drawings and BOMs, and develop CAM-based die designs (Aerial CAM, Collapse, Swing, Rotary) with timing diagrams, ensuring efficient process sequencing and benchmarking where applicable.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in 3D Die design and drafting of casting tool design in Catia, NX or SolidWorks.
• Knowledge on Press types and specifications and on Press Automations.
• Ability to select materials, prepare detail drawings and BOM.

Responsibilities

• Deliver process planning outputs on schedule with cross-functional coordination.
• Maintain section activities and highlight blockers; optimize process with SMED/engineering proofing.
• Follow project KPIs and milestones; report progress to supervisor.
• New projects installation, commissioning, prove-out and handover to production.
• Communicate with suppliers and customers to execute projects; mentor new engineers.

Position: Tool & Die design engineer (TT35SI RM 4496)

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical engineering) with knowledge of sheet metal (or) Production Engineering (or) Diploma in Tool & die making.

• 3-5 years of experience in in 3D Die design and drafting of casting tool design in any software [Catia, NX, Solid works]
• Knowledge on Press types & specifications.
• Knowledge on Press Automations (Panel transfer from 1 Press to Press).
• Selection of material, preparation of Detail drawings & BOM.
• Knowledge of die designs with CAMs (Aerial CAM, Collapse, Swing and Rotary) with timing diagram.
• Can be able to make and optimise process/operation sequence.
• Additional advantage (Experience in Pattern Validation).
• Performing benchmarking exercise and value engineering tasks.

Relevant Experience

• Knowledge on Die standard parts & die cost estimation.
• Selection of material, preparation of Detail drawings & BOM.
• Creating Standard elements for Die Designs.
• Knowledge of die designs with CAMs (Aerial CAM, Collapse, Swing and Rotary) with timing diagram.
• Knowledge in Stamping processes, die structure, Body structure & stamping feasibility concerns for both stamping.
• Can be able to make and optimise process/operation sequence.
• Additional advantage (Experience in Pattern Validation).
• Performing benchmarking exercise and value engineering tasks.

Major Responsibilities

• Deliver Process planning error free outputs as per accepted schedule, with communications between other Process, Product and Production.
• Keep track of all activities in the section and ensure that the leader knows of the blocking points. Ensure process optimization while making the Simultaneous engineering and prove it in the physical phase
• Follow and achieve project guidelines/KPI and Department KPI. Follow Key Milestones and report the progress daily to superior.
• New Projects installation and commissioning, Prove out, Handover to production, follow up with suppliers for activity completion
• Establish & Maintain good communication with all suppliers & customers in order to execute the given projects
• Keep high motivation and guide new engineers in the team to Skill up continuously to deliver the assigned tasks
