Job summary

Mahindra And Mahindra Ltd. in India seeks an experienced HMI leader to drive the design, development and validation of cockpit HMI across infotainment, clusters and displays.

You will define system requirements, collaborate with design, software and validation teams, and ensure safety compliance with automotive standards. The role requires 12–15 years of experience, leadership of 6+ engineers, and successful delivery of multiple M6 projects from concept to delivery.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of experience in HMI design, development and validation for automotive infotainment and displays.
• Experience leading a team of 6+ engineers and delivering multiple projects.
• Proven track record from concept to delivery on M6 projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop HMI system requirements aligning with system architecture and software development on platforms Android AOSP, QNX or Linux.
• Create the user experience that delights customer.
• Collaborate with design, System, Software and Validation teams.
• Ensure HMI is safe, seamless, and compliant with automotive standards.
• Requirements management: analyze customer needs and manage in a requirements database.
• System design: create and maintain the overall system architecture for the HMI.
• UX development: work with designers and PMs to create an intuitive UI, including touch and voice-enabled features.
• Software implementation: liaise with SW developers on QNX, Linux, Android.
• Safety and compliance: adhere to ISO 26262 and minimize driver distraction.
• Collaboration: work with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
• Testing and validation: support verification/validation and track defects to closure.
• Benchmark: research customer trends to define new HMI features.

Key duties involve:

Key responsibilities

• Requirements management: Analyze customer needs, define system requirements, and manage them in a requirements database.
• System design: Create and maintain the overall system architecture for the HMI, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with other vehicle electronics.
• User experience (UX) development: Work with designers and product managers to create an intuitive and safe user interface, including touch and voice-enabled features.
• Software implementation: Liase with Sw developers on various embedded platforms like QNX, Linux, and Android.
• Safety and compliance: Ensure the HMI design adheres to safety standards like ISO 26262 and minimizes driver distraction.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, and designers, to ensure project success.
• Testing and validation: Support the verification and validation of the HMI system to ensure it meets performance and quality targets. Report the defects and track till closure.
• Benchmark: Conduct benchmark on vehicles and research customer trends to define new HMI features.

Experience

• Responsible for HMI design, development,implementation and validation for Infotainment, Cluster, Passenger display, AR HUD and Mobile app on passenger and commercial vehicles.
• Should have alteast 12 to 15 years of experience.
• Should have undertaken atleast three M6 projects from concept till delivery.
• Should have experience in leading a team of 6 or more engineers.
• Should be a leader in defining automotive user experience.
