Job summary

Bloomingdale International School in Vijayawada is seeking a Spanish Teacher to deliver IB PYP, MYP and DP Spanish instruction. You will plan lessons, develop language proficiency, and create immersive activities that engage students across listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The role requires 2+ years of Spanish teaching experience, with IB experience preferred. Strong communication and culturally aware teaching are essential in a collaborative IB environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish, Spanish Language or Education.
• Strong proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English.

Spanish Teacher – PYP, MYP & DP

Location: Bloomingdale International School, Penamaluru, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh

Curriculum: IB – Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) & Diploma Programme (DP)

Employment Type: Full-time | In-person

Experience: 2–5 years preferred

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

• Plan and deliver engaging Spanish lessons aligned with relevant IB PYP, MYP, and DP learning objectives.
• Develop students’ Spanish language proficiency across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
• Create an immersive and interactive language-learning environment.
• Use inquiry-based learning, communicative activities, projects, games, role plays, and real-world contexts to make language learning engaging.
• Differentiate instruction according to students’ age, proficiency level, learning needs, and abilities.
• Integrate Spanish culture, literature, traditions, history, and contemporary contexts into classroom learning.
• Use digital platforms, multimedia, and technology to enhance language acquisition.
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment.

IB & Student Development

• Support students in developing communication, research, social, self-management, and thinking skills.
• Integrate ATL skills and IB Learner Profile attributes into language learning.
• Prepare students appropriately for relevant IB assessments and programme requirements.
• Encourage students to use Spanish confidently in authentic and real-world situations.
• Promote international-mindedness and appreciation of diverse cultures.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with teachers across departments to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
• Participate in collaborative planning and curriculum development.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and development.
• Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, cultural programmes, and language-related activities.
• Contribute to the wider academic and co-curricular life of the school.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate in IB training and professional development opportunities.
• Stay updated with effective language-teaching methodologies and IB curriculum developments.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Contribute to Spanish language events, cultural celebrations, clubs, and enrichment activities.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish, Spanish Language & Literature, Education, Modern Languages, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant Spanish teaching experience preferred.
• Experience teaching Spanish in an IB PYP, MYP, and/or DP environment is preferred.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and student engagement skills.
• Ability to create interactive, student-centered, and inquiry-based language-learning experiences.
• Passion for language education, cultural awareness, and developing globally minded learners.

IB Experience & Curriculum

Experience with IB PYP, MYP, and/or DP Spanish is preferred.

IB training/certification in Spanish

IB training/certification in Spanish will be an added advantage.

Candidates with relevant Spanish teaching experience from Cambridge, IGCSE, CBSE, ICSE, or other recognized curricula may also be considered, particularly those with strong Spanish language proficiency and a willingness to work within the IB framework.
