Job summary

LANXESS Deutschland GmbH seeks a senior engineering leader in Thane (India) to own owner’s engineering activities and oversee project scope, budget, and timelines across international assignments.

You will generate specifications for static/rotary equipment, manage procurement, and supervise engineers and contractors on-site and at workshops, ensuring compliance with global standards and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or higher.
• 15+ years of experience in engineering, project execution and related fields.
• Experience on global / international projects; international locations a plus.
• Strong knowledge of local and international engineering codes and regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on experience with engineering design and analysis software.
• Experience across project phases from ideation to commissioning.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and materials of construction in chemical environments.
• Experience in equipment maintenance, reliability or asset management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure owner’s engineering activities, evaluation of competencies, and safeguarding of IP.
• Generate specifications and designs for static, rotary, and package equipment.
• Develop, define, and oversee project scope, budget, and timelines; manage changes and report to global PM.
• Ensure compliance with LXS guidelines and standards; develop discipline standards for equipment/tools.
• Lead end-to-end procurement and execution for technical equipment, including supplier negotiations and inspections.
• Coordinate and supervise internal and external engineers, BU representatives, and contractors.

Job Highlights

• Ensure owner’s engineering activities within the area of responsibility, including evaluation and granting of competencies, and safeguarding of intellectual property.
• Generate specifications and designs for technical equipment (static, rotary, equipment packages), such as pressure vessels, columns, pumps, compressors, package units, and special equipment, including related design calculations.
• Develop, define, and oversee project scope, budget, and timelines in line with project requirements. Manage changes with a focus on project objectives, considering interdisciplinary collaboration, business demands, and operational requirements. Ensure effective stakeholder management and provide timely, accurate reporting to the global Project Manager.
• Ensure compliance with LXS Guideline RL-0036 utilizing the LXS-Project Management Standard. Develop and refine discipline-specific standards for technical equipment and tools in compliance with legal and local requirements, and ensure strict adherence to these standards. To support establishing and developing Engineering Excellence centre in India by developing/adapting standards, workflows, procedures, tools and templates in the organization.
• Responsible for the end-to-end procurement and execution process for technical equipment, including preparation of requests, enabling purchase orders, support supplier negotiations, review of technical documents and data sheets, inspections, acceptance tests during manufacturing, and supervision of assembly and construction activities at contractor workshops and on site.
• Coordination and supervision of internal and external engineers/subject matter experts, all related discipline, involved BU-representatives and all contractors internal / external (engineering and construction)

Experience / Skills

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or higher qualification
• 15+ years of experience in engineering, project execution and related fields
• Proven experience of working on global teams / international projects, exposure to assignments at international locations will be considered an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of local and international engineering codes and standards, regulatory requirements is must
• Hands-on experience with relevant engineering design and analysis software is essential
• Must have adequate experience to work in different phases of project from ideation, concept until commissioning.
• Sound knowledge of metallurgy and various materials of construction including selection and application in chemical industry environments.
• Experience in equipment maintenance, reliability or asset management will be an added advantage.
