Job summary

LANXESS is seeking a senior Engineering Manager in Maharashtra, India to lead owner’s engineering activities, define equipment specifications, and oversee project scope, budget, and timelines across global teams.

The role requires extensive experience in chemical/engineering projects, strong standards knowledge, and end-to-end procurement oversight, including on-site supervision. Join LANXESS to drive engineering excellence and international collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or higher qualification.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, project execution and related fields.
  • Proven experience of working on global teams / international projects; experience at international locations is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international engineering codes and standards; regulatory requirements are a must.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering design and analysis software is essential.
  • Experience across all project phases from ideation to commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure owner’s engineering activities within the area of responsibility, including evaluation and granting of competencies, and safeguarding of intellectual property.
  • Generate specifications and designs for technical equipment (static, rotary, equipment packages); pressure vessels, columns, pumps, compressors, package units.
  • Develop, define, and oversee project scope, budget, and timelines; manage changes with a focus on project objectives; report to the global Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with LXS Guideline RL-0036 and develop discipline-specific standards; support Engineering Excellence centre in India by developing/adapting standards and templates.
  • End-to-end procurement and execution process for technical equipment: requests, POs, supplier negotiations, document reviews, inspections, tests, and supervision on site.
  • Coordinate and supervise internal and external engineers/subject matter experts, BU-representatives and contractors.

  • Develop, define, and oversee project scope, budget, and timelines in line with project requirements. Manage changes with a focus on project objectives, considering interdisciplinary collaboration, business demands, and operational requirements. Ensure effective stakeholder management and provide timely, accurate reporting to the global Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with LXS Guideline RL-0036 utilizing the LXS-Project Management Standard. Develop and refine discipline-specific standards for technical equipment and tools in compliance with legal and local requirements, and ensure strict adherence to these standards. To support establishing and developing Engineering Excellence centre in India by developing/adapting standards, workflows, procedures, tools and templates in the organization.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end procurement and execution process for technical equipment, including preparation of requests, enabling purchase orders, support supplier negotiations, review of technical documents and data sheets, inspections, acceptance tests during manufacturing, and supervision of assembly and construction activities at contractor workshops and on site.

Experience / Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or higher qualification
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, project execution and related fields
  • Proven experience of working on global teams / international projects, exposure to assignments at international locations will be considered an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international enginieering codes and standards, regulatory requirements is must
  • Hands-on experience with relevant engineering design and analysis software is essential
  • Must have adequate experience to work in different phases of project from ideation, concept until commissioning.
  • Sound knowledge of metallurgy and various materials of construction including selection and application in chemical industry environments.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance, reliability or asset management will be an added advantage.
