Job summary

Model Institute Of Engineering And Technology in Jammu seeks a Senior IT Specialist to manage and support the institute's IT infrastructure, systems, and networks, ensuring reliable, secure technology for academic and administrative operations.

You will lead desktop/server maintenance, support faculty and students, monitor performance, implement security, backups, and documentation, while coordinating with vendors and driving digital transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, IT, Computer Applications, Electronics or related field.
• 58 years of relevant IT experience, preferably in a higher education or institutional environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, networks, Wi‑Fi, printers, UPS, and other IT infrastructure.
• Provide advanced technical support to faculty, staff, and students and resolve escalated IT issues.
• Monitor network, internet, systems, and infrastructure performance and troubleshoot.
• Support IT provisioning for new employees, including system access, email, software, and hardware.
• Maintain and troubleshoot institutional applications such as ERP, HRMS, LMS, attendance, appraisal, and other digital platforms.
• Support smart classrooms, laboratories, AV systems, online meetings, examinations, and other academic technology requirements.
• Implement IT security measures, access controls, endpoint protection, patching, and cybersecurity practices.
• Monitor backups and support data recovery and business continuity processes.
• Maintain IT asset records and coordinate repairs, AMC, warranties, and replacements.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for IT projects, installations, upgrades, and issue resolution.
• Prepare and maintain IT documentation, SOPs, system records, and technical reports.
• Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and digital transformation.
