Job summary

Ceridian HCM, Inc. is seeking a diligent Estimating Engineer to develop engineered solutions and supporting documentation for quotations and tenders.

You will work with the Estimating and Sales team to ensure accurate BOMs that meet specifications and are value-engineered for timely submissions. Responsibilities include providing technical design input, reviewing specs, assisting in take offs, and coordinating schematics across internal and external submissions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the sales/estimating department with system design and product functionality knowledge.
• Provide technical engineering for designs ensuring specified functionality and quality; re-engineering as needed.
• Review specifications and drawings for quotations and tenders.
• Assist in cable take offs and measurements for large projects.
• Illustrate design schematics for internal use (hand sketches).
• Coordinate illustrated high level design schematics for external quotes using Visio, CAD, PowerPoint.
• Clarify technical concerns and tender schedules with consultants/builders.
• Respond to estimators' technical questions on design, BOM, and submission.
• Attend mandatory and adhoc site inspections for tender responses.
• Ensure timely delivery of design.
• Prepare general supporting docs for quotations and tenders.
• Liaise with Tender Coordinator on national pre-engineering and submission requirements.
• Other duties as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

You will be responsible for, but not limited to, the development and preparation of an engineered solution and supporting documentation for all quotations and tender responses. You will be working within the Estimating and Sales team to ensure our submissions provide an accurate bill of materials to meet the specification requirements, are 'value' engineered and delivered on a timely basis to ensure the ongoing success and reputation of our company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical support to the sales / estimating department with system design and product functionality knowledge.


• Provide technical engineering for designs ensuring specified / required functionality and quality is catered for, including and necessary re-engineering of existing client systems to achieve this requirement.


• Reviewing and assessing specifications and drawings for the preparation of quotations and tenders.


• Assist in Cable take offs and measurements for large projects.


• Illustrate Design Schematics for \"Internal\" purposes. (Hand Sketches)


• Coordinate Illustrated High Level Design Schematics for \"External\" quotation / tender submissions, as required in an appropriate drawing program (Visio, CAD, PowerPoint etc).


• Providing clarification on technical concerns and tender technical schedules, liaise with Consultants and Builders if required.


• Respond to Estimators technical questions in relation to design, BOM, Support documentation and Submission.


• Attend mandatory and Adhoc site inspections for the preparation of responses


• Ensure timely delivery of design


• Assist in the preparation of other / general supporting documentation for quotation and tender responses.


• Liaise with Tender Coordinator, reviewing all National Pre-Engineering, Estimating Support and Submission Guidance requirements.


• Other duties as required

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Qualifications in audio visual, media or business preferred


• Existing AV system knowledge essential


• Good computer skills with knowledge of both Word and Excel
