Job summary

Role & responsibilities

Quantity Take-Off & Estimation

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from IFC drawings, BOQs, specifications, and project documents.
• Review drawings and identify discrepancies, variations, and scope gaps.
• Prepare and maintain detailed BOQs for civil, mechanical, electrical, piping, and associated STP/WTP works.
• Assist in preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and project cost forecasts.
• Prepare and verify RA Bills, subcontractor bills, client bills, and work completion measurements.
• Conduct joint measurements with the client/consultant and site execution teams.
• Ensure billing quantities are supported by approved drawings, measurement sheets, and site records.
• Track certified, submitted, and pending bills and ensure timely submission.
• Review contract conditions, BOQ, specifications, rate schedules, and commercial terms.
• Monitor contractual obligations related to quantities, rates, variations, escalation, and payments.
• Identify commercial risks and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Maintain records of work orders, subcontract agreements, amendments, and related commercial documents.
• Identify and quantify variations, deviations, additional works, and omissions.
• Prepare variation statements and rate analysis for extra/substituted items.
• Coordinate with the project, engineering, procurement, and client teams for approval of variations.
• Maintain proper documentation and tracking of approved and pending variations.
• Monitor project costs against approved budgets and BOQs.
• Prepare cost-to-complete and cost variance reports.
• Track material consumption, wastage, subcontractor costs, and productivity.
• Highlight cost overruns and commercial risks to the Project Manager/Commercial Head.
• Prepare rate analysis for civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and other project activities.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and commercial proposals.
• Assist in negotiation and finalization of subcontract rates.
• Verify subcontractor measurements and bills against contractual BOQs and actual site progress.
• Maintain measurement books, quantity reconciliation statements, billing registers, variation registers, and cost records.
• Maintain records of approved drawings, BOQs, amendments, and client instructions.
• Prepare MIS reports related to quantities, billing, costs, variations, and project profitability.
• Prepare material reconciliation statements for cement, steel, pipes, fittings, chemicals, mechanical equipment, and other major project materials.
• Compare theoretical consumption with actual consumption.
• Identify excess consumption, wastage, and material losses and coordinate corrective actions.
