Job summary

Shitole Infra is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to ensure fabricated components meet customer specifications, drawings and standards. You will oversee welding quality, inspection plans, and NDT activities, coordinating with production and engineering teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of fabrication and welding, familiarity with ISO 9001, and experience with quality documentation and NCRs. CSWIP/AWS certs are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.
  • CSWIP / AWS CWI / NDT Level II certification preferred.
  • Experience with customer audits and third-party inspections preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of fabricated components and assemblies.
  • Review engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans, quality control plans, and inspection checklists.
  • Monitor fabrication processes including cutting, bending, machining, fit-up, welding, grinding, and finishing operations.
  • Conduct weld inspections as per approved welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and applicable standards.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, measuring tape, profile gauge, and CMM (if applicable).
  • Coordinate and monitor NDT activities including DPT, MPT, UT, and RT inspections.
  • Identify non-conformities, prepare NCR reports, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct weld quality audits and process audits on fabrication activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality systems and customer-specific requirements.
  • Maintain inspection records, quality reports, test certificates, and traceability documents.
  • Review material test certificates (MTC), welding consumable certificates, and inspection reports.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and customer inspection teams for quality improvement.
  • Handle customer complaints, rejection analysis, and corrective action closure.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve fabrication quality.

## Job Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring fabricated components meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, applicable standards, and internal quality requirements.

## Key Responsibilities:

## Required Technical Skills:
  • * Strong knowledge of fabrication processes:
  • * Structural fabrication
  • * Pressure vessel fabrication
  • * Sheet metal fabrication
  • * Heavy engineering fabrication
  • * Piping fabrication (as applicable)
  • * Excellent knowledge of welding processes:
  • * SMAW
  • * GTAW/TIG
  • * GMAW/MIG
  • * FCAW
  • * Knowledge of welding standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and applicable codes.
  • * Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
  • * Knowledge of inspection techniques and quality documentation.
  • * Experience in handling measuring instruments and calibration systems.
  • * Knowledge of 7 QC tools, 8D problem solving, CAPA, and root cause analysis.
  • * Experience with ERP/QMS software is preferred.
## Qualification:
  • * Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • * CSWIP / AWS Certified Welding Inspector / NDT Level II certification preferred.
  • * Experience in handling customer audits and third-party inspections preferred.
