Job summary

Ion Exchange (India) Ltd. is seeking a Quality Engineer with hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, inspection, and manufacturing quality to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable standards, and the companys QMS.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• 6–10 years’ experience in quality inspection/engineering.
• Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, EPC, or water treatment.
• Knowledge of ASME, AWS, ASTM, API, IS/ISO standards.
• Read engineering drawings and P&IDs.
• Willingness to travel to fabricator/subcontractor locations.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure quality compliance across fabrication, welding, assembly, and manufacturing activities.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of fabricated equipment, piping, and structures.
• Inspect welding, fit-up, dimensional accuracy, surface preparation, painting/coating, and fabrication processes.
• Review MTCs, WPS/PQR, NDT reports, RT reports, inspection records, and quality documentation.
• Manage NCRs, deviations, CAPA, root-cause analysis, and timely closure of quality issues.
• Coordinate with fabricators, subcontractors, production, engineering, and project teams.
• Support customer, third-party inspections, and quality audits.
• Maintain inspection reports, test certificates, and project quality dossiers.
• Drive quality improvement and corrective actions and escalated critical issues appropriately.

Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering or related discipline.
• 6–10 years’ experience in quality inspection/engineering, preferably in fabrication, manufacturing, EPC, or water treatment.
• Hands‑on experience in carbon steel fabrication, welding, piping, structural work, WPS/PQR, NDT, dimensional inspection, coating/painting, and RT review.
• Knowledge of ASME, AWS, ASTM, API, IS/ISO standards.
• Strong understanding of NCR, CAPA, RCA, audits, and quality documentation.
• Ability to read engineering drawings/P&IDs and work effectively in a shop-floor/fabrication environment.
• Willingness to travel to fabricator/subcontractor locations, as required.
