Job summary

Economy Process Solutions seeks an experienced Welding Quality Engineer to plan, implement and monitor welding quality control activities across fabrication projects. You will ensure adherence to ASME codes, customer specs and ISO 9001 Quality requirements on shop floor and field installations.

The role involves leading a QC team of engineers and inspectors, coordinating with production, engineering and suppliers, and driving continuous improvement through CAPA and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 10–11 years of Welding Engineer & Quality Control experience in process equipment or heavy fabrication.
  • Experience with ASME codes, quality plans, WPS/PQR and weld maps is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare QAPs, WPS, PQR and Weld Maps.
  • Witness hydrostatic and pneumatic tests per schedule.
  • Coordinate with clients, inspectors and QA team to ensure code compliance.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

To plan, implement and monitor welding quality control activities, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, ASME codes, applicable standards, and company quality requirements throughout fabrication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Management
  • Prepare Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), WPS, PQR and Weld Maps.
  • Plan and witness hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests.
  • Provide technical clarifications during project bidding.
  • Manage welder qualification, WPQ records and continuity records.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, ITPs and quality plans
Inspection & Testing
  • Conduct procedure qualification for plate, pipe and tube-to-tubesheet joints as per ASME Section IX.
  • Review welding consumables, MTCs and approve release.
  • Optimize welding processes and review joint preparation/bevel angles.
  • Issue approved WPSs and Weld Maps after client approval.
  • Monitor shop floor welding activities for code compliance.
  • Train welders and ensure calibration of welding equipment.
  • Coordinate with clients, third-party inspectors and authorized inspectors.
  • Witness mechanical testing for procedure/performance qualification.
  • Perform inspection before, during and after welding.
  • Prepare final as-built documentation and maintain ISO 9001 records.
Customer Quality
  • All Document On time Submit
  • Improve customer satisfaction through quality initiatives.
Team Management
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the Quality Control team, including QC Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians.
  • Plan and allocate daily inspection activities in line with production schedules and project priorities.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure timely completion of inspections without compromising quality.
  • Provide technical guidance on fabrication, welding, NDT, dimensional inspection, and code compliance.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Stores to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Ensure all inspection personnel follow approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, WPS, and applicable ASME
Process Improvement
  • Analyse rejection, rework and customer complaints.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • On time Welder Qualification
  • On time WPS -PQR Qualification &
  • On time QAP Submission
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain Quality Manuals, SOPs and Work Instructions.
  • Ensure proper document control.
Cross Functional Coordination
  • New Welding Process development.
