Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a control systems engineer in Chennai, India, to contribute to PLC/DCS design, testing, and FAT activities. You will work on safety and Fire & Gas systems, integrate Modbus/Profibus/HART/FF protocols, and ensure project execution with customers and site visits.

You should bring a degree in Electronics & Instrumentation or related field, with 3–8 years of experience in Process Industries. The role demands teamwork, strong analytical ability, and professional communication.

Qualifications

• Should have basic understanding of PLC, DCS, Safety and Fire & Gas systems.
• Awareness of ISA standards applicable to control system design.
• Growing understanding of process control concepts and techniques.
• Familiar with networking devices like ethernet switches, fiber switches and firewalls.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, HART and FF.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team while handling multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Understand project requirements and complete duties assigned by the Supervisor.
• Design, implement, and test I/O (HART, Modbus, FF, Profibus etc.), basic control functions, interlocks, sequences, operator interface on DCS/PLC.
• Document control and safety functions, present to customer for approval.
• Prepare test documentation and participate in customer FATs.
• Participate in project meetings, interact with customers, visit sites and support commissioning.
• Troubleshoot control and communication problems between systems during FAT.
• Compile and maintain project databases and configuration data.
• Prepare reports for customer proposals, FEED, design documents, FAT/SAT procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Understanding project requirements and completing all duties assigned by the Supervisor.
• Should design, implement, and test a wide range of I/O (HART, Modbus, FF, Profibus etc.), basic control functions, interlocks, sequences, operator interface and other control components on DCS and PLC.
• Documenting the project control and safety functions, presenting them to the customer and get approval.
• Preparing test documentation and participates in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.
• Actively participates in project meetings, discussion with customers, visiting sites and supporting commissioning activities
• Should be able to troubleshoot the control and communication problems between different systems during FAT.
• Compiles and maintains project databases, configuration data, or other project information.
• Compiles data and prepares reports for various activities such as customer proposals, FEED studies, project design documents, FAT and SAT procedures etc.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation & Control Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• 3to 8 years of experience in relevant field (PLC/DCS/HMI Design experience in Process Industries only)

Work Experience

• Control System (DCS/PLC) Engineering & testing experience. DCS Experience is preferred.
• Part of Control System Engineering in Process Industries (Oil & Gas, LNG, Fertilizers, etc.,)
• No need of profiles with Electrical or Machine PLC background
• Experience in Cutting/Drilling Machine, Conveyors, FMCG industries are not desired.
