Job summary

Konem is seeking a Sr. PLC Automation Engineer to design, develop, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions for SPM and assembly line automation projects.

You will work with Mitsubishi, Delta, Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms, applying domain knowledge in testing, motion control and industrial protocols to deliver robust automation systems. The role requires 3-5 years of hands-on experience, BOM preparation, wiring layouts, and willingness to travel for onsite installation and client

Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or related Engineering discipline.
• 3-5 years hands-on PLC/HMI/SCADA automation experience.
• Hands-on development with at least two brands: Mitsubishi, Delta, Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC/HMI/SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and commission PLC ladder logic, HMI and SCADA for automation projects.
• Lead testing, installation and commissioning at client sites.
• Diagnose and resolve issues on PLC/HMI/PC-based test benches; provide on-site/off-site support.

Sr. PLC Automation Engineer:

Job Description:

• PLC/HMI/SCADA Development: Design, develop and commission PLC ladder logic, HMI and SCADA applications for SPM and assembly line automation projects a core, mandatory requirement of this role.
• Multi-Brand PLC Expertise: Strong hands‑on experience with Mitsubishi, Delta, Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC, HMI and SCADA platforms; working knowledge of LabVIEW, Beckhoff or other emerging platforms is an added advantage.
• Domain Expertise: Apply strong domain knowledge in testing & measurement, motion control, assembly line automation and SPM (Special Purpose Machine) applications to deliver robust automation solutions.
• Motion Control: Configure, program and commission motion control systems involving servo motors, stepper motors and AC/DC drives.
• Communication Protocols: Sound working knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, Profinet/Profibus, CC-Link and EtherNet/IP.
• Sensor & Instrumentation: Select, integrate and troubleshoot sensors and instrumentation used across test and automation systems.
• Engineering Documentation: Prepare BOMs, control panel wiring layouts and control panel logic diagrams as part of project execution.
• Testing, Installation & Commissioning: Carry out testing and validation of developed code, and lead installation and commissioning at client sites.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve issues on existing PLC/HMI/PC‑based test benches; provide onsite and offsite customer support for implemented code and hardware.
• Data Acquisition & Reporting: Develop test software for automated testing of products, write code to interface with internal and external hardware for data acquisition, and report on results of data processing.
• Project & Team Leadership: Take end‑to‑end ownership of assigned projects lead a team, define project timelines and resource requirements, and provide regular progress updates to the reporting manager.
• Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure ordered parts and components are delivered on schedule, to cost and to specification.
• Documentation & Maintenance: Maintain and update code, and prepare clear software documentation for developed applications.
• Additional Support: Assist with other project and team tasks as requested.

Requirements

Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or a related Engineering discipline

35 years of hands‑on experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA-based industrial automation, preferably in an SPM or assembly‑line automation environment

Mandatory hands‑on development experience with at least two of: Mitsubishi, Delta, Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms

Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet/Profibus, CC-Link, EtherNet/IP)

Practical experience with motion control systems servo motors, stepper motors and AC/DC drives

Ability to independently prepare BOMs, wiring layouts and control panel logic diagrams

Willingness to travel for onsite installation, commissioning and customer support

Strong troubleshooting ability with proven team leadership and project ownership skills

Exposure to LabVIEW or other automation/test platforms is an added advantage
