Job summary

VS Industries in Maharashtra, Chakan is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial machinery. You will program and commission PLCs (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Delta), develop HMI/SCADA screens, and prepare electrical drawings for panels.

Role requires 15 years in PLC programming, strong knowledge of electrical control panels, and willingness to travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial machinery and automated production lines.
• Program and commission PLCs such as Siemens, Mitsubishi, Delta, or similar platforms.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA screens for machine operation and monitoring.
• Prepare and understand electrical control panel drawings, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, and electrical schematics.
• Select and configure electrical components such as MCBs, MCCBs, contactors, relays, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, SMPS, PLCs, HMIs, and control devices.
• Carry out electrical panel wiring, testing, and inspection.
• Perform machine electrical installation, wiring, termination, and cable routing at the workshop and customer site.
• Integrate PLCs with motors, VFDs, sensors, pneumatic systems, valves, heaters, pumps, conveyors, and other machine components.
• Conduct PLC and machine commissioning at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, sensor, drive, and automation-related issues during machine operation.
• Conduct I/O testing, sequence testing, interlock testing, and safety circuit testing.
• Coordinate with mechanical and fabrication teams during machine assembly and commissioning.
• Understand machine sequences and convert mechanical processes into PLC control logic.
• Support machine trials, production trials, and final commissioning.
• Prepare basic PLC backups, electrical documentation, I/O documentation, and commissioning reports.
• Provide technical support to customers after installation when required.
• Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service activities.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
• 15 years of relevant experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, electrical panels, or machine commissioning.
• Strong practical knowledge of PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Experience with Siemens / Mitsubishi / Delta PLCs will be preferred.
• Knowledge of HMI programming and VFD configuration.
• Good understanding of electrical control panels, industrial wiring, sensors, relays, contactors, drives, and control circuits.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and control schematics.
• Hands-on experience in panel wiring, machine wiring, cable termination, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Understanding of pneumatics, solenoid valves, proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, encoders, and limit switches will be an advantage.
• Experience with industrial machinery, production lines, conveyors, process equipment, or turnkey projects will be preferred.
• Should be comfortable with site travel and machine commissioning.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with mechanical, electrical, and project teams.
• Good communication skills and willingness to take ownership of project execution.
