• Prepare theatre areas before procedures.
• Arrange operating tables, trolleys and equipment.
• Ensure supply availability as instructed by staff.
• Transport patients between wards, preop areas, theatres.
• Position patients under supervision of clinical staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in theatre areas.
• Clean and turnover theatre between procedures.
• Move equipment, supplies and trolleys safely.
• Assist nursing staff with non-clinical prep tasks.
• Handle sterile packs without compromising sterility.
• Report damaged packaging or expired supplies.
• Move used instruments to reprocessing areas.
• Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
• Replenish linen and general supplies as required.
• Shift and arrange equipment with safety precautions.
• Report equipment damage or shortages promptly.
• Follow hand hygiene and infection control procedures.
• Maintain patient privacy during transport and prep.
• Assist with emergency theatre prep when requested.

The OT Assistant supports the smooth functioning of the operating theatre by assisting with theatre preparation, equipment arrangement, patient transportation, and the handling of surgical supplies. The involves maintaining cleanliness, preparing procedure areas, supporting the nursing and surgical teams, and following infection control and biomedical waste management protocols. The OT Assistant helps ensure that the operating theatre remains organized, safe, and ready for surgical procedures.

• Prepare the operating theatre and related areas before scheduled surgical procedures.
• Assist in arranging operating tables, trolleys, and other designated theatre equipment.
• Ensure the availability of basic supplies and consumables as instructed by nursing staff.
• Assist in transporting patients safely between wards, preoperative areas, operating theatres, and recovery areas.
• Help position patients under the direction and supervision of qualified clinical staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the operating theatre and surrounding areas.
• Assist with cleaning and turnover of the theatre between procedures according to hospital protocols.
• Support the safe movement of equipment, supplies, and surgical trolleys.
• Assist nursing staff with non-clinical preparation tasks before and after procedures.
• Handle sterile packs and surgical supplies carefully without compromising their sterility.
• Report damaged packaging, expired supplies, or suspected contamination to the nursing team.
• Assist with the collection and movement of used instruments to designated reprocessing areas.
• Follow instructions for biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
• Ensure linen, waste containers, and general supplies are replenished as required.
• Assist with shifting and arranging equipment while following safety precautions.
• Report equipment damage, maintenance requirements, and supply shortages promptly.

• Support emergency theatre preparation when requested by the clinical team.
