Job Description

The OT Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies before, during, and after surgical procedures. The involves assisting the surgical team, maintaining aseptic conditions, following sterilization and infection control protocols, and ensuring that the operation theatre is ready for safe and efficient procedures.

• Prepare the operation theatre before scheduled surgical procedures.

• Check the operation theatre table, surgical lights, suction units, and other equipment.
• Assist with positioning equipment and surgical accessories as directed.
• Ensure availability of sutures, dressings, and other required consumables.
• Follow infection prevention and control protocols throughout the procedure.
• Handle surgical instruments according to established procedures.
• Coordinate with the CSSD for sterile instrument sets and supplies.
• Support the safe transfer and handling of instruments after surgery.
• Assist with cleaning and preparation of the theatre between procedures.
• Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines.
• Monitor stock levels of OT consumables and report shortages.
• Maintain records of equipment checks, supplies, and theatre activities.
