Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operation theatres for scheduled and emergency procedures.
  • Arrange and check surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables.
  • Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during procedures.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and aseptic conditions in the OT.
  • Assist with patient positioning and surgical preparation.
  • Handle instruments and equipment properly.
  • Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts as per OT protocols.
  • Coordinate with CSSD for sterile sets and instruments.
  • Ensure OT equipment availability and functionality.
  • Assist in emergency and complex surgeries.
  • Clean and disinfect OT equipment after procedures.
  • Handle surgical specimens per protocol.
  • Maintain OT registers and equipment logs.
  • Monitor inventory and report shortages.
  • Follow infection-control and biomedical waste-management standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate maintenance.
  • Support patient transfer and post-operative movement.
  • Participate in quality audits and accreditation activities.
  • Follow hospital SOPs and patient-safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the OT Manager.
