Job summary

Layam is seeking an experienced NPD Engineer CFBF to drive new product development, component inspection, and process improvement in our Tamil Nadu operations. The role requires strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality documentation, and cross-functional teamwork.

The candidate should have 23 years of relevant experience and a diploma/BE/B.Tech or equivalent graduation. Willingness to work on site and contribute to continuous improvement is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in New Product Development (NPD) and component inspection.
• Ability to read 2D drawings with tolerances and symbols.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP and FMEA activities.
• Knowledge of welding/paint/heat treatment processes is an advantage.
• Proficient MS Excel for data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to NPD projects across casting, machining, forging and sheet metal.
• Interpret 2D drawings, dimensional verification and inspection planning.
• Prepare inspection reports including first-piece and layout checks.
• Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet timelines.
• Ensure quality documentation and maintain data in MS Excel.

Job Description

We are looking for candidates with experience in New Product Development (NPD), component inspection, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience in casting, machining, forging, heat treatment, fasteners, sheet metal fabrication, or engine component development.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, symbols, and special requirements.
• Knowledge of component inspection, measurement instruments, and dimensional verification.
• Experience in first-piece inspection, layout inspection, and preparation of inspection reports.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, material properties, and quality requirements.
• Knowledge of APQP, DFM, PPAP, and FMEA activities.
• Experience in supplier coordination and cross-functional team coordination to meet product development timelines.
• Knowledge of welding, painting, CED, and powder coating processes will be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, for data compilation and reporting.
