Job Summary:
We are looking for a technically strong Manager - Network Engineering - to independently drive field issue troubleshooting, log and packet analysis, RCA preparation, and end-to-end closure across broadband devices, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G mobility and related network environments. The candidate should be comfortable working with device logs, Wireshark traces, Linux tools, Python-based automation, and cross-functional teams. The person should be able to convert field symptoms into technically validated problem statements, coordinate fixes with OEMs/internal teams, and track issues to closure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Issue Troubleshooting & Ownership
- Own end-to-end field issue lifecycle: detection analysis RCA fix closure.
- Analyze issues across Wi-Fi, broadband CPE, FTTH/ONT, PPPoE/IPoE, device management and 4G/5G mobility scenarios.
- Prioritize issues based on customer impact, recurrence, severity and operational urgency.
2. Technical Analysis & RCA
- Perform packet capture and log analysis using Wireshark, Linux utilities and device/network logs.
- Correlate observations across device behavior, network behavior, backend systems and configuration changes.
- Prepare structured RCA notes covering problem statement, evidence, cause, impact, workaround, permanent fix and validation status.
- Contribute to knowledge base articles, RCA repositories and internal learning sessions.
3. Automation & Diagnostic Improvement
- Develop or enhance Python scripts for log parsing, data extraction, trend checks and repetitive analysis tasks.
- Identify recurring failure patterns and propose improvements in diagnostic methods, dashboards or reporting templates.
- Maintain reusable troubleshooting checklists and analysis templates for the team.
4. OEM / Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with OEM/ODM engineering teams for defect reproduction, log sharing, firmware behavior analysis and fix validation.
- Coordinate with network, product, operations and field teams to validate root cause and closure actions.
- Track externally dependent action items and ensure technical discussions are documented clearly.
5. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare concise status updates for leadership and stakeholders on open issues, risks, blockers and closure plans.
- Create weekly/monthly trend summaries for recurring issues, device behavior and pending vendor actions.
- Communicate technical findings in a way that is understandable to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, NAT, VLANs and PPPoE/IPoE flows.
- Hands-on experience with Wireshark packet analysis, protocol decoding and log correlation.
- Good Python scripting ability for automation, log parsing and data analysis.
- Strong Linux knowledge including shell commands, system logs, network tools and scripting basics.
- Practical understanding of Wi-Fi technologies including 802.11 standards, authentication, roaming, RF behavior and interference troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of broadband/FTTH architecture including GPON/EPON, OLT, ONT/ONU, routers, gateways and mesh systems.
- Exposure to device management protocols such as TR-069/TR-369 and firmware/configuration behavior analysis.
- Working knowledge of LTE/4G and 5G concepts including attach/registration, session/bearer handling, handover and mobility states.
- Strong analytical mindset, structured RCA approach and ownership-driven closure behavior.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, MoMs and stakeholder updates.
- Experience in telecom, broadband, CPE, Wi-Fi AP, ONT/ODCPE, router/gateway or mobility troubleshooting environment.
- CCNA or equivalent certifications preferred
