Job Description: Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will independently own complex problem areas across networking and software domains, with strong hands‑on expertise in Python, Linux systems, Wi‑Fi technologies, and packet‑level diagnostics. This role requires the ability to evaluate products, design solutions aligned to Airtel network requirements, and mentor junior engineers while contributing directly to execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own technical co‑ownership of products from conceptualization, evaluation, solution design, execution, deployment, and continuous assurance.
  • Lead product software evaluation and propose scalable solutions aligned with Airtel network and deployment requirements.
  • Translate Airtel network architecture and operational needs into detailed device and software requirements.
  • Independently troubleshoot complex network and system issues using tools such as Wireshark, logs, and Linux diagnostics.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Python‑based automation for testing, monitoring, and data analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Support and validate Wi‑Fi features including roaming, mesh, steering, and performance optimization.
  • Work extensively in Linux environments for scripting, debugging, and system‑level analysis.
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions for field and lab issues.
  • Create and review technical documentation, test reports, and solution proposals.
  • Stay updated with emerging networking, Wi‑Fi, and telecom technologies and standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of hands‑on experience in software, networking, or telecom engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
  • Hands‑on expertise with Wireshark and packet‑level analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and data parsing.
  • Solid experience working in Linux environments, including shell scripting and log analysis.
  • Strong understanding of Wi‑Fi technologies and concepts (802.11 standards, roaming, mesh, steering, band steering etc.).
  • Exposure to 4G/5G mobility concepts including handovers and signaling.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in ISP or telecom operator environments.
  • Knowledge of GPON, OMCI, and broadband access technologies.
  • Experience in OpenWrt platform, OpenWrt packages, prplOS, or embedded networking platforms.
  • Experience in TR-181 and TR-369 data models.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA or equivalent.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.
