Job summary

Vaaman Engineers requires an experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee Roaster and Leaching plant maintenance. The role focuses on reliable operation, preventive and predictive maintenance, and handling major maintenance activities.

You will coordinate with operations and other technical teams, develop maintenance plans, and ensure safety and quality standards are met in a zinc smelter environment.

Qualifications

• B.Tech/B.E. Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Roaster and Leaching operations in a Zinc Smelter is preferred.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of plant mechanical equipment and maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation, maintenance and upkeep of mechanical equipment in Roaster and Leaching areas.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and implement RCA and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation and Process teams for smooth plant operation.
• Prepare maintenance plans, equipment history, spares requirements and shutdown schedules.
• Supervise shutdowns, major maintenance and equipment commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PTW, LOTO, 5S and QMS requirements.
• Manage contractors and manpower during maintenance and shutdown activities.
• Monitor equipment performance and drive reliability improvements and cost optimization.
• Maintain maintenance records and KPI/MIS related to mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation, maintenance and upkeep of mechanical equipment in Roaster and Leaching areas.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Handle critical equipment such as kilns/roasters, conveyors, pumps, blowers, compressors, agitators, slurry handling systems, filter presses, tanks and related mechanical systems.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and implement RCA, corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation and Process teams for smooth plant operation.
• Prepare maintenance plans, equipment history, spares requirements and shutdown schedules.
• Supervise shutdown, major maintenance and equipment commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, PTW, LOTO, 5S and QMS requirements.
• Manage contractors and manpower during maintenance and shutdown activities.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
• Maintain proper documentation, maintenance records and KPI/MIS related to mechanical maintenance.

Desired Skills

• Strong hands‑on knowledge of Roaster and Leaching plant mechanical equipment.
• Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, slurry handling and material conveying systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, maintenance planning and team‑handling skills.
• Experience in zinc smelter / non-ferrous metallurgical plant will be preferred.

B.Tech/B.E. Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably having major exposure to Roaster and Leaching operations in a Zinc Smelter.
