Job summary

Vandana Global (VGL) is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance & Plant Reliability lead to oversee day-to-day mechanical maintenance for DRP/Sponge Iron plant equipment. The role includes planning preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance, plus coordinating shutdown activities and inspections.

Candidate should have 5+ years in steel manufacturing/DRI plant maintenance with supervisory experience, RCA expertise, and strong HSE knowledge. Proficiency in MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
• 5+ years' experience in steel manufacturing or Sponge Iron/DRI plant maintenance.
• Minimum 1+ year of supervisory/leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of Sponge Iron/DRI plant operations and mechanical maintenance.
• Hands-on experience in maintenance methodologies, audits and reliability practices.
• Proven experience in RCA, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Job description

Mechanical Maintenance & Plant Reliability :

• Lead day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities for DRP/Sponge Iron plant machinery and equipment.
• Prepare and execute preventive, predictive and planned maintenance schedules.
• Plan and monitor shutdown maintenance activities, checklists and execution.
• Conduct regular plant inspections and line walks across DRP kilns to identify maintenance requirements.
• Manage breakdown and ad-hoc maintenance activities with minimum impact on production.
• Allocate manpower and resources and monitor manpower utilization and maintenance productivity.
• Validate completed maintenance work and ensure timely work-order closure and documentation.
• Coordinate with PM & CBM teams for equipment condition monitoring and maintenance planning.
• Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Monitor equipment performance, reliability and maintenance trends to identify improvement opportunities.

Maintenance Planning, Cost & Spares Management :

• Develop maintenance plans, schedules and resource requirements for DRP equipment.
• Monitor consumption and utilization of maintenance materials, spares and equipment.
• Coordinate with Purchase & Stores for timely procurement and availability of critical spares.
• Control maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and optimization.
• Review maintenance data and identify opportunities for process, methodology and reliability improvement.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

• Coordinate closely with SIU Operations, Quality, Technical Services, PM & CBM, Operations Excellence, Purchase and Stores teams.
• Participate in daily/periodic review meetings and present maintenance performance, equipment reliability and utilization reports.
• Track action items, monitor implementation and evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, contractors and technical consultants for maintenance activities and technical support.

Candidate Profile :

• B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical / Production Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in steel manufacturing / Sponge Iron / DRI plant maintenance.
• Minimum 1+ year of experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Strong understanding of Sponge Iron / DRI plant operations and mechanical maintenance.
• Hands-on experience in various maintenance methodologies, audits and equipment reliability practices.
• Proven experience in RCA, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
