Job summary

The Sleep Company is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to own sourcing strategy for essential materials used in mattresses and lead contract manufacturing partnerships. This role supervises a team, drives cost-down initiatives and mentors the Direct Procurement function.

Candidates should have deep expertise in foam, chemicals, polymers, and related supplier negotiations, with hands-on ERP experience and a strong track record in P2P/S2P platforms and spend analytics.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years in manufacturing procurement (FMCG, furniture, foam, chemicals, polymers, auto or similar).
• Proven foam/chemicals/polymer sourcing and commodity-linked contract negotiation (indexation, import, landed cost).
• Contract manufacturing or job-work experience: should-cost, capacity and quality governance.
• Hands-on ERP experience (SAP/Oracle or similar) in a procurement role.
• Experience with P2P and S2P platforms (e-sourcing, e-auctions, contract management, PO/invoice workflows).
• Spend analytics: spend cube, category segmentation, Pareto and tail-spend analysis, savings tracking with Excel/Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Own category strategy for foam, chemicals, latex, springs, fabric and comfort layers.
• Lead commercial negotiations and contracts with top-spend suppliers.
• Manage commodity and import exposure: price indexation, landed cost and currency impact.
• Run contract manufacturer and job-work partnerships: selection, costing, capacity, SLAs and quality alignment.
• Own capex sourcing for plant machinery and tooling.
• Run spend analytics and the vendor scorecard framework for Direct Procurement; drive S2P/P2P adoption.
• Partner with Operations, QA, R&D and Finance on demand planning, cost-downs and new product launches.
• Mentor the Manager; delegate tail spend, rate contracts and follow-ups.

Role Purpose

Own sourcing strategy and top spend for all materials that go into the mattress, and lead contract manufacturing partnerships. Acts as the strategic head of the Direct Pod and mentors the Manager - Direct Procurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Own category strategy for foam, chemicals (polyols, TDI/MDI, additives), latex, springs, fabric and comfort layers
• Lead commercial negotiations and annual / long-term contracts with top-spend suppliers
• Manage commodity and import exposure: price indexation, landed cost, currency impact and dual sourcing
• Run contract manufacturer and job-work partnerships: selection, costing, capacity, SLAs and quality alignment.
• Own capex sourcing for plant machinery and tooling
• Runs spend analytics and the vendor scorecard framework for the Direct Pod; drive S2P / P2P adoption
• Partner with Operations, QA, R&D and Finance on demand planning, cost-downs and new product launches
• Mentor the Manager; delegate tail spend, rate contracts and follow-ups to build bench strength and backup cover

MUST-HAVE

• 12-15 years in manufacturing procurement (FMCG, furniture, foam, chemicals, polymers, auto or similar)

• Contract manufacturing or job-work experience: should-cost, capacity and quality governance

• Working experience with P2P and S2P platforms (e.g., Coupa, Ariba, Zycus, GEP or similar): e-sourcing, e-auctions, contract management, PO and invoice workflows
• Spend analytics: spend cube, category segmentation, Pareto and tail-spend analysis, savings tracking, with Excel / Power BI or similar
• Supplier relationship management (SRM): structured supplier reviews, joint business plans, risk and compliance tracking
• Vendor scorecards: ability to design and run a scorecard (quality, cost, delivery, service, compliance) and use it to drive performance and sourcing decisions.
