Job summary

Arjas Steel in India seeks a Technical Operations & Maintenance Manager to supervise maintenance, troubleshoot Siemens automation hardware, and lead field instrumentation.

You will plan maintenance to improve OEE, coordinate between engineering, operations and client teams, and drive predictive maintenance using data from SCADA/WinCC.

5+ years in industrial automation, Bachelor's or diploma in relevant engineering, and hands-on site leadership required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Automation Engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on industrial or field site management experience.
• Experience with Siemens S7 PLCs and Profibus/Profinet is required.
• Familiarity with IIoT/Industry 4.0 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming for Siemens automation hardware and networks.
• Act as the key technical resource addressing critical system breakdowns.
• Manage field instrumentation including calibration and monitoring of transmitters, flow, level and temperature.
• Plan and schedule automation maintenance to maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and plant reliability.
• Interface between engineering, plant operations, and client teams to minimise costs and delays.
• Use data from automated systems to implement predictive maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Supervise technicians and automation engineers; manage staff allocation and safety adherence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Operations & Maintenance Management

• Supervise daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming for core Siemens automation hardware and industrial networks (including Siemens S7 PLCs, Simatic Drives, SCADA/WinCC, Profibus, and Profinet systems).
• Act as the key technical resource and service provider at the assigned area/customer location, addressing critical system breakdowns efficiently.
• Manage field instrumentation, including calibration and monitoring of transmitter, flow, level, and temperature measurements.

2. Execution & Process Optimization

• Plan and schedule automation maintenance routines to guarantee high Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and optimal plant reliability.
• Interface between engineering, plant operations, and client execution teams to ensure technical discrepancies or logic modifications are managed with minimal cost or delay.
• Utilize data-driven insight from automated systems to implement predictive maintenance plans and continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Team Leadership & Resource Control

• Supervise the performance and activities of technicians and automation engineers within the assigned area.
• Manage or advise on staff allocation, skill development, safety standard adherence, and performance assessments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Competencies

• Core Automation Platforms: Hands-on proficiency with Siemens S7-1200/1500/300/400 PLCs, TIA Portal, Simatic Drives, ABB Drives (ACS800, 850,880, 550 & 580) and HMI/SCADA (WinCC) configurations.
• Industrial Networks: Deep understanding of industrial communication protocols like Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, and basic cybersecurity/network architecture.
• Field Instrumentation: Solid grasp of transmitters, flow meters, heat load calculations, and control loop tuning.
• Industry 4.0 (Optional/Preferred): Familiarity with smart factory setups, IIoT devices, vision inspection systems.

Soft Skills & Experience

Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor's or diploma degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering, combined with 5+ years of hands‑on industrial or field site management experience
