Job summary

Sarom Fab is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform routine mechanical and electrical upkeep of fabric inspection, rolling, packing, and sample cutting machines on a monthly schedule. You will inspect equipment, replace worn parts, and maintain logs to ensure optimal uptime.

The role requires reading machine drawings and wiring diagrams, strong troubleshooting abilities, and disciplined record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine mechanical and electrical maintenance per monthly schedule.
• Inspect machines for wear and plan timely part replacements.
• Perform preventive maintenance including lubrication and record-keeping.
• Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults, and minimize downtime.
• Maintain maintenance logs with service dates and next due dates.
• Track AMC status and renewals; coordinate with vendors.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and raise indents.
• Coordinate maintenance with production to minimize disruption.
• Support installation and commissioning of new machines as required.
• Prepare monthly maintenance reports highlighting issues and costs.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Train operators on basic upkeep to reduce faults.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Carry out routine mechanical and electrical maintenance of all machines (fabric inspection, rolling, packing, and sample cutting machines) as per a defined monthly maintenance schedule.
• Inspect machines periodically to identify wear and tear of parts (belts, bearings, motors, sensors, gears, rollers, wiring, etc.) and plan timely replacement before failure.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities including oiling, greasing, and lubrication of moving parts as per schedule, and maintain records of the same.
• Attend to breakdown calls promptly, diagnose mechanical/electrical faults, and carry out repairs to minimize machine downtime.
• Maintain and update a maintenance log/checklist for each machine covering date of service, work done, parts replaced, and next due date.
• Track AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) status for all applicable machines/components renewal dates, service visits due, and vendor follow-ups.
• Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and consumables (oils, grease, belts, fuses, etc.) and raise indents before stock runs low.
• Coordinate with the production team to schedule maintenance with minimum disruption to ongoing operations.
• Support installation, commissioning, and trial runs of new machines at customer sites or in-house, as required.
• Prepare monthly maintenance reports/MIS for management review, highlighting machine health, recurring issues, and cost of maintenance.
• Ensure all maintenance work is carried out following safety procedures and standards.
• Train machine operators on basic upkeep (daily checks, cleaning, minor troubleshooting) to reduce avoidable faults

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong troubleshooting skills mechanical and electrical.
• Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, lubrication schedules, and AMC management.
• Ability to read machine drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Good record-keeping and reporting discipline (Excel / maintenance log formats).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize urgent breakdowns, and manage multiple machines across the shop floor.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with production, stores, and external service vendors.

• Adherence to monthly preventive maintenance & oiling schedule (%).
