Job summary

Kumar Metal Industries is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Machine Shop at Manor, Palghar. You will oversee production planning, shop floor execution, and process optimization for conventional machining processes.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years' hands-on experience in turning, milling, boring, plano-mill, drilling and surface treatments, with knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001. SAP PP experience is an advantage.

Qualifications

• BE Mech/BE Production/DME or equivalent
• Experience in planning, scheduling and monitoring production

Job Title: Senior Engineer Machine Shop

Location: Manor, Palghar

Team/Function: Manufacturing (Engineering – Machine Shop)

Reporting to: Sr. Manager – Machine Shops

About the role

The ideal candidate must have strong hands‑on experience and in‑depth knowledge of conventional machines including, Turning, Milling, Horizontal Boring machine, Plano Miller, Drilling, Grinding, Assembly and Surface treatment processes etc. A solid understanding of machining practices, tool usage, and process optimization is essential.

Experience & Qualifications

5 to 8 Yrs, B.E. Mech/B.E. Production/D.M.E.

Skills sets:

Production Planning & Execution

• Proficient in planning, scheduling, and monitoring of production activities to ensure timely delivery and optimal resource utilization. (Plan Vs Actual).
• Capable of managing shop floor operations, coordinating between cross functional teams and ensuring adherence to production targets and quality standards.
• Monitor and analyse variable cost like, consumable, tooling, rework, PPE, etc.
• Decide machining process sequence, active participate in new part development
• Assists Contractor to complete schedules production activities as per scope, Process Sheet, SOP, and control sheet.

Team & Manpower Management

• Experience in handling shop floor workforce (Direct & Indirect), allocating manpower efficiently, and maintaining a productive and safe working environment.
• Strong interpersonal & leadership skills for effective team coordination & conflict resolution.

Quality Management Systems

• Well-versed in ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System).
• Familiar with implementing and maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.

SAP – Production Planning (PP) Module

• Experience working in SAP, particularly with the Production Planning (PP) module.
• Ability to track production orders, manage BOMs, and monitor material availability. (SAP experience considered an added advantage.)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Strong command over MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.

Exposure to CNC & VMC Machines

• Familiarity with CNC and VMC operations and programming concepts.
• Understanding of machine setup, basic troubleshooting, and process optimization.

• Adherence to Quality requirements and Safety.
