Samay Consulting in India is seeking a hands-on Java Backend Engineer to join as an L2 Support Engineer (70% Support / 30% Development). You will support, maintain, and enhance integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, while contributing to ongoing development and improvements.

The role requires a strong development background with production support experience, ability to troubleshoot across services, and collaboration with senior engineers for deeper escalations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in Java backend development and/or production support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Experience debugging and resolving production issues.
• Familiarity with logs, monitoring, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with integration patterns and cross-service troubleshooting.
• Kafka experience is a plus.
• Exposure to cloud platforms and DevOps practices is a plus.
• Solid practice of unit and integration testing.
• Ability to work independently on L2 issues.

Responsibilities

• Build strong understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS — its APIs, integration points, and upstream/downstream services.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and related backend services.
• Analyze logs, DB queries, API responses, and Kafka events to identify and resolve production issues.
• Pinpoint whether issues originate in the application, database, integration layer, or an external system.
• Lead production incident resolution, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
• Maintain and enhance Java/Spring Boot applications — bug fixes, enhancements, performance tuning.
• Write and maintain unit/integration tests, and contribute to broader testing strategy.
• Follow engineering best practices: code reviews, monitoring, documentation.
• Partner with L3/Lead engineers on deeper technical or architectural issues.
• Participate in on-call support, ensuring issues are tracked and escalated appropriately.

We're looking for a hands-on Java Backend Engineer to join our squad as an L2 Support Engineer (70% Support / 30% Development), focused on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS.

The ideal candidate has a strong development background paired with production support experience — comfortable troubleshooting across multiple services, identifying root causes, implementing permanent fixes, and collaborating with senior engineers when deeper escalation is needed.
