Job summary

Samay India is seeking hands-on Java backend engineers to join our Sustainment & Enhancement Squad, focusing on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS. The ideal candidate has production support experience and a strong development background, able to debug production issues and work with senior engineers for escalations.

This full-time role requires comfort with backend services communication across systems, and contributing to ongoing development

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of Java backend development and production support.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot expertise.
• Production experience with Kafka, real-time streaming.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Experience debugging production issues and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop a good understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, its APIs, integration points, and the upstream and downstream services that interact with it.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and related backend services.
• Analyze application logs, database queries, API responses, Kafka events, and other system information to identify and resolve production issues.
• Troubleshoot issues across multiple services and identify whether the problem originates within the application, the database, the integration layer, or an external downstream system.
• Participate in production incident resolution, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurring issues.
• Maintain and enhance existing Java and Spring Boot applications, including bug fixes, minor enhancements, and performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests and contribute to testing strategies that help identify issues before they reach production.
• Follow and contribute to coding standards, code review practices, monitoring, documentation, and other engineering best practices.
• Work closely with L3 and Lead engineers and other teams when issues require deeper technical investigation or architectural changes.
• Participate in on-call support and ensure production issues are communicated, tracked and escalated appropriately.

• Ability to work independently on L2 issues while knowing when and how to escalation complex issues.
• Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation.
• Understanding of cloud platforms and DevOps practices is good to have.
