Job summary

Orbit Bearings urgently seeks a seasoned Head of Production Planning & Control to lead the PPC function in a high-volume bearing manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes strategic planning, cross-functional leadership, and continuous improvement to boost productivity and delivery performance.

You will develop long-term and daily production plans, manage MRP, optimize inventory, and drive ERP/SAP-based planning while mentoring the PPC team and coordinating with Production, Purchase, Stores,

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in Production Planning & Control, with leadership experience in PPC roles.
  • B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
  • MBA / PGDM in Operations / Supply Chain Management advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the PPC function and team.
  • Develop long-term, monthly, weekly and daily production plans based on demand and capacity.
  • Drive production scheduling and plan adherence across operations.
  • Optimize machines, manpower, materials and capacity utilization.
  • Lead MRP and ensure timely availability of materials/components.
  • Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Supply Chain and Production to resolve material issues.
  • Monitor and optimize Raw Material, WIP and Finished Goods inventory.
  • Conduct capacity planning, bottleneck analysis and resource planning.
  • Coordinate with Sales for demand forecasts and delivery priorities.
  • Monitor Plan vs. Actual and initiate corrective actions.
  • Identify and mitigate material shortages, capacity constraints and delivery risks.
  • Improve plan adherence, inventory turnover and on-time delivery.
  • Develop PPC MIS, dashboards and KPIs (Plan vs Actual, OTD, capacity, inventory).
  • Ensure effective use of ERP/SAP for planning and monitoring.
  • Develop and mentor PPC team; drive Lean/Kaizen improvements.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head Production Planning & Control (PPC) to lead the end-to-end PPC function for a large-scale manufacturing environment.


The position will be responsible for production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, MRP, material planning, inventory optimization, demand planning, production adherence and delivery performance.


The ideal candidate should have strong experience in managing PPC operations in a high-volume, process-driven manufacturing environment, with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive improvements in productivity, inventory, capacity utilization and on‑time delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall Production Planning & Control (PPC) function and team.
  • Develop long-term, monthly, weekly and daily production plans based on demand, customer requirements and available capacity.
  • Drive production scheduling and plan adherence across manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of machines, manpower, materials and production capacity.
  • Lead Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and ensure timely availability of materials/components.
  • Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Supply Chain and Production teams to resolve material availability issues.
  • Monitor and optimize Raw Material, WIP and Finished Goods inventory.
  • Carry out capacity planning, bottleneck analysis and resource planning.
  • Coordinate with Sales/Marketing regarding demand forecasts, customer priorities and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor Plan vs. Actual production and initiate corrective actions for deviations.
  • Identify and upscale material shortages, capacity constraints, production delays and critical delivery risks.
  • Improve production lead time, planning accuracy, inventory turnover and On‑Time Delivery (OTD).
  • Develop and monitor PPC MIS, dashboards and management reports.
  • Establish and monitor key PPC KPIs including:
    • Plan vs. Actual
    • Production Plan Adherence
    • On‑Time Delivery
    • Capacity Utilization
    • Inventory Levels
    • WIP
    • Inventory Turnover
    • Production Lead Time
  • Ensure effective utilization of ERP/SAP systems for planning, scheduling, MRP and inventory monitoring.
  • Lead and develop the PPC team through effective team management, performance monitoring and capability building.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, process improvement and planning‑system improvements.
  • Work closely with Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Sales, R&D and Supply Chain to ensure smooth execution of production plans.

Qualification

Experience

15+ years of relevant experience in Production Planning & Control, preferably with significant experience in a PPC leadership / Head / Senior Manager role.


Candidates with experience in the following industries will be preferred:

  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end manufacturing planning.
  • Hands‑on experience in MRP, capacity planning and production scheduling.
  • Strong exposure to inventory optimization and material planning.
  • Experience handling high‑volume / multi‑product manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management and multiple cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong experience in ERP/SAP‑based planning systems.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving plan adherence, inventory, capacity utilization and delivery performance.
