About the Role

KLR Industries Limited is looking for an experienced Head PPC to lead production planning, scheduling, material coordination, capacity planning and shop-floor execution for its engineering and manufacturing operations.


The ideal candidate should have strong experience in PPC within a drilling rig, mining rigs, water well rigs, DTH/RC rigs/ heavy engineering / machinery / fabrication / automotive / industrial equipment manufacturing environment, with the ability to coordinate across Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Design and Sales.


Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning
  • Overall Production requirement planing monthly, weekly and daily Based on Monthly Projection based on customer orders, delivery commitments and manufacturing capacity.
  • Prepare and monitor Master Production Schedule (MPS) and production plans.
  • Ensure timely execution of production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Identify bottlenecks and take corrective actions to achieve production targets.
  • Plan production based on machine capacity, manpower, materials and process availability.

2. Material Planning & Coordination
  • Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials, bought-out components and consumables.
  • Review MRP requirements, BOMs, inventory levels and material shortages.
  • Monitor critical materials and ensure minimum production interruptions.
  • Improve inventory turnover while maintaining required production stock.

3. Capacity Planning
  • Analyse machine and manpower capacity against production requirements.
  • Identify capacity constraints and recommend overtime, outsourcing, additional resources or process improvements.
  • Balance workloads across machines and production lines.

4. Shop-Floor Monitoring
  • Track daily production versus planned production.
  • Conduct regular review meetings with Production, Quality, Stores, Purchase and Engineering teams.
  • Monitor WIP and ensure smooth movement of materials through various manufacturing stages.
  • Escalate delays and implement recovery plans.

5. Delivery & Order Management
  • Closely coordinate with Sales/Marketing and Operations to meet committed delivery dates.
  • Provide realistic production timelines for new and existing orders.
  • Prioritize production based on customer requirements and business priorities.
  • Track order status from planning through dispatch.

6. PPC Systems & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain PPC systems, production MIS and dashboards.
  • Establish KPIs for plan adherence, schedule adherence, WIP, inventory, lead time and on-time delivery.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reduce production lead time, WIP and manufacturing bottlenecks.

7. Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor the PPC team.
  • Define responsibilities, targets and performance metrics for the PPC function.
  • Build strong coordination between PPC, Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality and Engineering.
  • Develop a data-driven and proactive planning culture.

Required Experience & Skills
  • 1015 years of total experience, preferably with significant experience in PPC/production planning.
  • Experience in heavy engineering, industrial machinery, drilling equipment, fabrication or similar manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP, BOM, MPS, capacity planning and inventory management.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, assembly and outsourced processes.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP systems and advanced MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination abilities.
  • Experience in leading a PPC team is essential.

Educational Qualification
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical preferred.
  • MBA/PG Diploma in Operations or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The preferred candidate should be a strong hands-on PPC leader who can independently manage planning for a complex engineering manufacturing environment and coordinate multiple departments to achieve production and delivery targets.

Experience in manufacturing drilling rigs, mining/construction machinery, hydraulic equipment, fabricated structures, machining and heavy engineering products will be highly relevant to KLR Industries' product environment.
