Job summary

Indus Towers is seeking a Field Support Engineer to ensure smooth operation and high uptime of telecom sites. You will perform field visits, monitor equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with internal teams and customers.

The role requires travel to assigned sites, adherence to ESH guidelines, and proactive maintenance to minimize outages. You will engage in site upgrades, landlord coordination, and continuous improvement of site quality.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or Telecom.
  • Basic understanding of telecom infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Site Operations & Maintenance: perform regular site visits, maintain Passive infrastructure, monitor key equipment (DG, Battery Bank, SMPS, SNMP systems), ensure uptime and log activities.
  • ESH Compliance: follow SOPs, PPE usage, PTW, and safety guidelines; support trainings.
  • Customer Management: assist outage escalations, provide site access, build professional relationships, support upgrades and Ready for Service activities.
  • Site Quality & Process Compliance: maintain cable management and temperature, conduct audits, ensure zero non-compliance, monitor vendor performance.
  • Energy Management: identify diesel-heavy sites, reduce EB faults, convert non-EB sites to EB, ensure DG running hours and DCEM compliance.
  • Uptime Management: drive uptime per KPI/MSA, perform root cause analysis, ensure alarm integration with NOC, complete preventive maintenance, close punch points.
  • Team Management: evaluate technician performance, identify training needs, manage site allocation and discipline.
  • Landlord Management: secure smooth site access, maintain landlord relationships, resolve hygiene issues, support upgrades and installations.

Field Support Engineer (FSE) Role Overview

As a Field Support Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations and high uptime of telecom sites. This role involves field visits, equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining strong coordination with internal teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities
1. Site Operations & Maintenance
  • Perform regular site visits to ensure smooth functioning of telecom sites
  • Handle operation & maintenance of Passive infrastructure
  • Monitor key equipment like DG, Battery Bank, SMPS, and SNMP systems
  • Identify faults/issues and ensure timely resolution
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Maintain service reports and daily activity logs
  • Support installation and basic troubleshooting of telecom equipment
  • Ensure high uptime and proper functioning of all sites
  • Travel within assigned area for field support
2. ESH (Environment, Safety & Health) Compliance
  • Maintain site hygiene as per company standards
  • Follow SOPs and safety guidelines at all times
  • Ensure use of proper PPE by self and technicians
  • Verify usage of correctly rated equipment
  • Ensure PTW (Permit to Work) is issued for all activities
  • Support ESH trainings and enforce safe practices at sites
3. Customer Management
  • Support outage escalations raised by operators
  • Provide site access support to tenants
  • Maintain strong and professional customer relationships
  • Support site upgrades and RFS (Ready for Service) activities
4. Site Quality & Process Compliance
  • Maintain high site quality (cable management, temperature, settings, automation, etc.)
  • Identify gaps against standards and ensure timely correction
  • Conduct periodic audits of site infrastructure (tower, civil, electrical, etc.)
  • Ensure zero non-compliance in operational and quality processes
  • Monitor quality of technicians, vendors, and spares
5. Energy Management
  • Identify high diesel consumption sites and suggest improvementsReduce EB (Electricity Board) faults
  • Support conversion of non-EB sites to EB sites
  • Ensure DG running hours compliance
  • Maintain DCEM compliance
6. Uptime Management
  • Drive uptime as per KPI/MSA targets
  • Perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for outages
  • Ensure 100% alarm integration with NOC
  • Maintain PM (Preventive Maintenance) compliance
  • Close all site punch points timely
7. Team Management
  • Evaluate technician performance
  • Identify training needs and support development plans
  • Manage site allocation and discipline of technicians
8. Landlord Management
  • Ensure smooth site access with landlords
  • Maintain strong landlord relationships for 247 access
  • Resolve hygiene-related issues for landlord satisfaction
  • Support upgrades, installations, and planned activities
Preferred Candidate Profile
  • Diploma/B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or Telecom
