Job summary

Icem Engineering seeks an Estimation Engineer at our India operations to prepare cost estimates and quotations for pressure vessel components, dished ends and heavy fabrication items. You will study drawings, datasheets and specs to define scope, material and forming requirements.

The role requires strong knowledge of steel materials, AutoCAD for drawings, and a keen eye for costing and material optimization.

Qualifications

• BE/Diploma Mechanical with 5+ years in estimation for pressure vessels/heavy fabrication.
• Experience in dished ends, clad plates or heavy forming components is preferred.
• Ability to read drawings, datasheets and codes and translate into scope and material needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for pressure vessel components and heavy fabrication.
• Study client enquiries, drawings, datasheets and technical specifications to define scope and material requirements.
• Compute raw material requirements, plate sizes, weights and nesting to optimize cost.
• Source material inputs from steel mills and traders considering mill capabilities and delivery times.
• Coordinate with sales, production, QA and purchasing to validate manufacturability and timelines.
• Prepare and review technical-commercial offers with terms and deviations.
• Maintain an estimation/enquiry register and support conversion of enquiries into orders.
• Review fabrication drawings/layouts in AutoCAD for estimation support.

Job description

We have an opening for an Estimation Engineer based at our India operations.

Below is the JD for this position. The selected candidate shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for pressure vessel components dished ends, rolled shells, cones, expansion bellows and explosion-bonded clad plates
• Studying client enquiries, drawings, datasheets and technical specifications to define scope, material and forming requirements
• Working out raw material requirements, plate sizes, weights and nesting / utilisation to optimise material cost
• Sourcing material inputs from steel mills and traders understanding mill capabilities, rolling ranges, grades, thickness limits and delivery lead times
• Co-ordinating with sales, production, QA and purchase teams to validate manufacturability, costing assumptions and timelines
• Preparing and reviewing technical-commercial offers, including terms, exclusions and deviations
• Maintaining an estimation / enquiry register and supporting the conversion of enquiries into firm orders
• Reviewing and developing fabrication drawings and layouts in AutoCAD as required for estimation and offer support

Skills / Competencies Required:

• Strong knowledge of steel materials — carbon steel, stainless steel, clad and alloy grades — including specifications (SA 516, SA 240, SA 264, etc.) and their forming behaviour
• Sound understanding of steel mills and their capabilities — rolling ranges, plate sizes, grades produced, heat treatment and delivery patterns
• Well versed with AutoCAD for reading, developing and modifying drawings and layouts
• Ability to interpret pressure vessel component drawings, datasheets and codes
• Strong commercial sense for costing, weight calculation and material optimisation
• Good communication and co-ordination skills across departments
• Self-driven, detail-oriented and capable of taking independent decisions

Qualification & Working:

1. Qualification – BE / Diploma Mechanical (preferred) with 5+ years of relevant estimation experience in pressure vessels, heavy fabrication, forming or static equipment

2. Job location – India (Thane, Maharashtra)
