Job summary

Collabera Talent Solutions is seeking an Entry/Experienced Estimator for steel structures in Noida. You will prepare accurate estimates for fabricated steel, interpret drawings and RFQs, and develop cost-ready BOQs and MTOs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications, engineering drawings, 3D models and RFQs to understand scope.

• Develop and maintain BOQs covering structural members, plates, pipes, angles, connections and fasteners.
• Calculate material quantities and weights from drawings, CAD models, BOMs and project info.
• Prepare project cost estimates based on material quantities, rates and fabrication needs.
• Consider fabrication-related costs including cutting, drilling, welding, galvanizing, assembly and handling.
• Document assumptions, exclusions and clarifications used in estimates.
• Support estimation from bid/RFQ through pre-award and coordinate with sales/engineering teams.

Job Details Position: Entry/Experienced Estimator Steel Structures

Shift Timings : 9 AM to 6 PM

Location: Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for fabricated steel structures, including utility and transmission/distribution structures.

The role will involve interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, 3D models and RFQs; performing material take-offs; preparing BOQs; and developing project cost estimates. The successful candidate should have a good understanding of steel structures, fabrication processes and material costing.

The position is suitable for both entry-level candidates with relevant technical education and experienced estimators with hands‑on steel estimation experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications, engineering drawings, 3D models and RFQs to understand project scope and estimating requirements.
• Prepare detailed and accurate material take-offs (MTOs) for fabricated steel structures.
• Develop and maintain BOQs (Bill of Quantities) covering structural members, plates, pipes, angles, connections, fasteners and associated components.
• Calculate material quantities and weights from engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs and other project information.
• Prepare project cost estimates based on material quantities, applicable rates and fabrication requirements.
• Consider fabrication-related costs and processes including:
• Cutting
• Drilling
• Welding
• Galvanizing
• Assembly
• Material handling and other applicable manufacturing activities
• Review drawings and project documentation to identify missing information, discrepancies, scope gaps and cost-impacting requirements.
• Clearly document assumptions, exclusions and clarifications used while preparing estimates.
• Support estimation activities from the initial bid/RFQ stage through pre-award.
• Work closely with sales, engineering, detailing, procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
• Independently prepare estimates for straightforward projects with minimal supervision.
• Validate BOQs and material take-offs to minimize omissions, duplication and quantity errors.
• Maintain accurate estimating records, supporting documentation and cost information.
• Use appropriate estimating, CAD, structural or fabrication software to support quantity take-offs and cost estimation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in steel structures, structural fabrication or a related manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Hands‑on experience with material take-offs and BOQ preparation.
• Understanding of steel structural drawings and 3D models.
• Ability to interpret:

• Understanding of steel materials including plates, pipes, angles and structural members.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Software experience is not the only selection criterion. Strong hands‑on experience in steel MTO, BOQ preparation and cost estimation can be considered even when the candidate has used different estimating or CAD platforms.

Education

Preferred educational backgrounds include:

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering
• Polytechnic Diploma
• ITI / Technical certification
• Relevant technical education in estimating, sales, project management or steel fabrication
