Job summary

HYT Engineering in Pune district seeks an Estimation & Costing Engineer (Civil) to prepare accurate estimates, BOQs and project costing for railway infrastructure and allied works. The role requires strong MS Excel skills, knowledge of AutoCAD, and exposure to civil estimation, tendering and cost control. Diploma holders with relevant experience may be considered.

Job Description Estimation & Costing Engineer (Civil)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Estimation & Costing Engineer (Civil) to join our Civil team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, BOQs, rate analysis and project costing for railway infrastructure projects, machine foundations, PEB/structural sheds and allied civil works.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of civil estimation and costing, excellent quantity take-off and drawing-reading skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with Design, Purchase, Planning, Site and Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare BOQs, quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates based on drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Prepare estimates for machine foundations, RCC works, reinforcement, excavation, flooring, pits and allied civil works.
• Prepare costing for PEB/structural sheds, structural steel, roofing, cladding and erection works.
• Conduct rate analysis using Railway SOR/DSR, prevailing market rates and vendor/subcontractor quotations.
• Review tender documents, drawings and specifications and identify scope gaps, exclusions and potential cost risks.
• Obtain, evaluate and compare subcontractor/vendor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
• Prepare estimates and costing for extra items, variations, additional works and change orders.
• Support RA bill quantity verification and project cost monitoring.
• Prepare estimated vs. actual cost statements and project costing MIS.
• Coordinate with Design, Purchase, Planning, Site and Commercial teams to ensure accurate estimation and cost control.
• Maintain proper records of estimates, rate analysis, quotations and cost-related documentation.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Civil Estimation & Costing.
• Hands-on experience in BOQ preparation, quantity surveying and rate analysis.
• Good understanding of Railway SOR/DSR and market rates.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings.
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
• Strong analytical, numerical and commercial skills.
• Good understanding of project costing and cost control.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.

Educational Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech Civil Engineering

Candidates with a Diploma in Civil Engineering with strong relevant estimation experience may also be considered.
