Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Construction Estimator & Costing Engineer with experience in Railway Infrastructure and Civil Construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, budgeting, vendor evaluations, and cost control activities for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, budgets, and project bids for civil and railway infrastructure projects.
- Determine project costs including labor, materials, equipment, logistics, and subcontractor services.
- Support tendering and proposal preparation activities.
Quantity Survey & Plan Analysis
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, tender documents, and site requirements.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs for civil works, materials, and manpower.
- Validate measurements and quantities against project scope.
- Float RFQs and collect quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Compare quotations and prepare techno-commercial evaluations.
- Maintain vendor costing records and supplier databases.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, procurement teams, consultants, and clients for estimate validation and project costing discussions.
- Support project execution teams with cost clarifications and budget monitoring.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare estimation reports, cost analysis sheets, budget trackers, and management presentations.
- Maintain estimation databases, historical costing records, and pricing references.
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential financial risks.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, project requirements, and applicable construction norms.
Site Visits & Monitoring
- Conduct site visits for quantity verification, project assessment, and cost validation.
- Support project teams in monitoring construction progress and resource utilization.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction and railway infrastructure estimation practices.
- Good understanding of BOQ preparation, quantity surveying, and project costing.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Attention to detail with strong documentation capability.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimation activities.
Software Skills
- MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- ERP Systems
- Estimation & Quantity Surveying Tools
- AutoCAD knowledge will be an added advantage
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management or related field.
Experience
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in Civil Construction Estimation & Costing.
- Experience in Railway Infrastructure / Metro / Government Projects preferred.
