Job summary

Jio World Centre (RIL) is seeking a senior Vertical Transportation (VT) operations and maintenance professional to oversee all VT systems, including elevators, escalators, and lifts. You will drive reliability, schedule preventive and predictive maintenance, and coordinate with OEMs and contractors across a high-footfall environment.

You will ensure regulatory compliance, NBC standards, safety procedures, and continuous improvement through CAPA, RCA, and energy optimization initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, electronics or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Diploma holders with extensive VT experience may be considered.
  • Certifications or training from major VT OEMs will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain VT systems (elevators, escalators, lifts) across Jio World Centre.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation and lifecycle performance.
  • Monitor KPIs, perform RCA/CAPA to improve reliability and asset life.
  • Plan statutory inspections, audits, load testing, and safety assessments.
  • Supervise OEMs, AMCs, contractors, and service providers to meet SLAs.
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergencies with timely restoration of services.
  • Develop shutdown plans, maintenance schedules, and modernization programs.
  • Support CAPEX projects for equipment replacement and upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records in SAP PM/MM and CMMS.

Job description

Job Purpose

To ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of all Vertical Transportation (VT) systems across Jio World Centre, including passenger elevators, service elevators, freight elevators, escalators, platform lifts, and specialized lifting equipment. The role is responsible for maximizing system availability, ensuring statutory compliance, driving operational excellence, supporting modernization initiatives, and delivering seamless vertical mobility for guests, tenants, employees, and event operations.

Job Accountabilities
  • Manage the operation, maintenance, reliability, and lifecycle performance of all Vertical Transportation systems, including passenger elevators, service elevators, freight elevators, escalators, platform lifts, disabled access lifts, and specialized lifting equipment across Jio World Centre.
  • Ensure safe, uninterrupted, and efficient operation of all VT systems through effective preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Monitor equipment performance, downtime, fault trends, and maintenance KPIs; conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve system reliability and asset life.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, National Building Code (NBC), manufacturer recommendations, safety standards, organizational policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate statutory inspections, third-party audits, load testing, certifications, regulatory approvals, and periodic safety assessments for all VT assets.
  • Supervise and coordinate OEMs, Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) partners, contractors, and service providers to ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), quality standards, and maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, emergency shutdowns, passenger entrapments, and operational incidents, ensuring timely restoration of services with minimum disruption to business operations.
  • Develop and implement shutdown plans, maintenance schedules, modernization programs, refurbishment projects, and commissioning activities while coordinating with internal stakeholders to minimize operational impact.
  • Support planning and execution of CAPEX projects, including equipment replacement, modernization, capacity enhancement, technology upgrades, and lifecycle improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset history, inspection reports, statutory documentation, equipment logs, technical drawings, and spare parts inventory using SAP PM/MM or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Monitor inventory levels of critical spare parts, recommend stocking strategies, and coordinate procurement activities to ensure uninterrupted maintenance operations.
  • Prepare operational dashboards, maintenance reports, reliability analysis, audit documentation, technical presentations, and management reports.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Projects, Operations, Security, Guest Experience, HSE, Procurement, and OEM partners to ensure seamless functioning of VT systems during 247 operational environment, exhibitions, conventions, concerts, and special events.
  • Drive energy optimization, equipment lifecycle improvement, digital monitoring initiatives, predictive maintenance technologies, and adoption of engineering best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Guide engineers, technicians, contractors, and maintenance personnel by promoting technical competency, safety awareness, operational discipline, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with organizational sustainability initiatives, environmental practices, safety requirements, and quality standards while supporting continual improvement across engineering operations
Skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of Vertical Transportation systems, including elevators, escalators, freight lifts, and specialized lifting equipment.
  • Sound understanding of VT maintenance methodologies, reliability engineering, troubleshooting, modernization, and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of applicable statutory regulations, National Building Code (NBC), lift safety standards, electrical safety practices, and engineering compliance requirements.
  • Experience in managing OEMs, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs), contractors, vendor performance, and service delivery.
  • Proficiency in fault diagnostics, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and reliability improvement techniques.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM/MM, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), asset management systems, and engineering documentation.
  • Good understanding of budgeting, spare parts planning, inventory management, and lifecycle cost optimization.
  • Strong analytical, planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline
  • Diploma holders with extensive experience in Vertical Transportation systems may be considered
  • Certifications or training from major Vertical Transportation OEMs will be an added advantage
Experience
  • 7 plus years of overall experience in managing VT systems in large commercial, hospitality, convention, or mixed-use facilities
  • Experience in managing high-rise, high-capacity, or mission-critical Vertical Transportation systems and coordinating with leading VT OEMs will be preferred
  • Experience working in complex, event-driven or high-footfall environments will be preferred
