Job summary

TVS Motor in Hosur seeks a Design Engineer to design handle bars, footrests, stands and lock systems for two-wheelers under system direction. You will deliver robust components meeting performance, durability, safety, ergonomics, manufacturability, quality and cost targets.

You will translate system requirements into component-level specs, develop CAD models (Creo/CATIA) and drawings, and apply GD&T. Collaboration across engineering, manufacturing and suppliers drives QCD and product integration.

Qualifications

• Translate system-level requirements into component-level design requirements for Handle Bars, Footrests, Stands and Locks.
• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with GD&T, documentation and specifications.
• Support DFMEA, design reviews and standard operating procedures; incorporate actions into final designs.
• Coordinate prototype development and validate components with System Engineer across QCD targets.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into component-level specs for Handle Bars, Footrests, Stands and Locks.
• Create and release 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using Creo/CATIA with GD&T.
• Perform loading, durability and ergonomics assessments for assigned components.
• Apply DFM, DFA, DFS principles and select materials and processes considering cost and weight.
• Support DFMEA and design reviews; update design guidelines and SOPs.
• Coordinate prototype development and validation; review test results with System Engineer.
• Work cross-functionally with CAE, quality, purchasing, manufacturing and suppliers to meet QCD.
• Lead problem solving and value engineering for new/current products.
• Drive standardization and variety reduction while meeting regulatory requirements.
• Maintain design records, change docs and release data; escalate risks to System Engineer.

Role Description

• Translate system-level requirements provided by the System Engineer into component-level design requirements and engineering solutions for Handle Bars, Footrests, Stands and Locks.
• Develop and release 3D CAD models, detailed 2D drawings, specifications and engineering documentation using Creo/CATIA and applicable GD&T practices.
• Perform engineering calculations and evaluate loading, strength, stiffness, durability, packaging, ergonomics, interfaces, tolerance stack-up and serviceability for assigned components.
• Apply DFM, DFA and DFS principles and select suitable materials and manufacturing processes such as casting, forging and fabrication considering performance, quality, weight and cost.
• Support DFMEA, design reviews, design guidelines and standard operating procedures; incorporate review actions into final designs.
• Coordinate prototype development and component/system validation; review test results for performance and durability and close design-related issues with the System Engineer.
• Work cross-functionally with CAE, testing, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, service, production, styling/packaging and suppliers to achieve agreed QCD requirements and vehicle integration.
• Lead/support structured problem solving and value engineering for new and current products, including root-cause analysis and implementation of design countermeasures.
• Drive standardization, carry-over and variety reduction opportunities across platforms while maintaining functional and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain timely, accurate design records, change documentation, specifications, lessons learnt and release data; escalat e technical risks and decisions to the System Engineer.
