Job summary

TVS Motor Company is seeking a Design Engineer - Powertrain Sub-System to design and integrate engine and powertrain components for two-wheelers. The role requires strong mechanical fundamentals, CAD design with Creo, and robust engineering release processes.

The candidate will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Sourcing, and Vehicle Engineering teams to resolve technical issues, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering.
• 5-6 years of experience in powertrain design and integration.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric CAD for 2D/3D models and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate engine and powertrain sub-systems within vehicle packaging and performance requirements.
• Perform engine integration studies, interface management, packaging evaluations, and assembly validation activities.
• Independently execute design activities from concept feasibility through engineering release.
• Create and manage complex CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and manufacturing drawings using Creo Parametric.
• Apply GD&T and perform dimensional analysis and tolerance stack-up.

Job Purpose

The Design Engineer - Powertrain Sub-System will be responsible for the design and integration of engine and powertrain sub-systems for two-wheeler applications. The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience in engine integration, CAD design, assembly modelling, GD&T, tolerance engineering, and engineering release processes. The incumbent will independently own assigned design activities from concept evaluation through engineering release, ensuring robust, manufacturable, serviceable, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate engine and powertrain sub-systems within vehicle packaging and performance requirements.
• Perform engine integration studies, interface management, packaging evaluations, and assembly validation activities.
• Independently execute design activities from concept feasibility through engineering release.
• Create and manage complex 2D/3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and manufacturing drawings using Creo Parametric.
• Perform interference checks, clearance analysis, packaging verification, and tolerance assessments.
• Develop and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and product structures.
• Apply GD&T and perform dimensional chain and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Conduct DFMEA and implement DFM, DFA, and DFS methodologies.
• Perform basic mechanical engineering calculations related to strength, stiffness, factor of safety, fasteners, fits & tolerances, thermal effects, and assembly validation.
• Manage CAD data, engineering changes, and release activities through Windchill PLM.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Sourcing, Supplier Quality, and Vehicle Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
