Job summary

Prabha Automotive Engineers Limited is seeking a skilled Weld Fixture Design engineer to develop fixtures for sheet-metal welding lines. You will design spot welding and MIG fixtures, including manual and pneumatic clamping, while optimizing loading, accessibility, weld-gun access, and cycle time.

Proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA and GD&T knowledge are essential for creating 3D fixtures and 2D drawings. Experience with fixture standards and BOM preparation is preferred, with emphasis on

Qualifications

• Design spot welding and MIG fixtures for sheet-metal/automotive components.
• Develop fixture concepts considering part loading/unloading, accessibility, weld-gun access and cycle time.
• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or CATIA; create 3D fixture assemblies, component models and 2D drawings.
• Good understanding of GD&T; interpret drawings and apply datums, locating schemes and tolerances.

Role & responsibilities

Weld Fixture Design

• Design Spot Welding and MIG Welding fixtures for sheet-metal/automotive components.
• Design fixtures with manual and pneumatic clamping systems.
• Develop fixture concepts considering part loading/unloading, accessibility, weld-gun access, and cycle time.

Design Software

• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or CATIA.
• Ability to create 3D fixture assemblies, component models and 2D manufacturing drawings.

GD&T Knowledge

• Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to interpret component drawings and apply appropriate datums, locating schemes, tolerances and fixture concepts.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Knowledge of automotive sheet-metal components.
• Understanding of 3-2-1 locating principle and fixture design standards.
• Knowledge of pneumatic cylinders, clamps, sensors and fixture mechanisms.
• Ability to prepare BOM, fixture drawings and manufacturing details.
• Experience in designing fixtures for automotive production/welding lines.
