Job summary

Tata Technologies in Chennai is seeking a BIW fixture design engineer with 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in designing and detailing spot welding and MIG welding fixtures, both automated and manual.

You will create 2D drawings and BOM, read GD&T, and collaborate with customers across OEMs such as GM, VW, BMW, FORD. Proficiency in CATIA V5 or UG NX and familiarity with Teamcenter are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing and detailing spot welding/MIG welding fixtures (automated and manual).
• Knowledge of BIW welding fixtures and related processes.
• Ability to read/interpret GD&T drawings and understand tolerances and materials.
• Creation of 2D manufacturing drawings and BOM is required.
• Exposure to handling OEMs or customer reviews is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Concept design of clamps, pin units stationary and retractable, slides and dumps.
• Exposure to Welding Lines Process & Layout (Spot/ARC welding).
• Performs basic engineering calculations to verify design integrity.
• Create 2D manufacturing drawings and BOM.
• Read and understand GD&T drawings.
• Design experience in BIW welding fixtures; improve manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Engage in technical reviews with customers; coordinate with teams across CAD tools.
• Experience with CAD tools adds value, teamcenter familiarity is a plus.
