Job summary

Macmium in Bengaluru seeks a passionate BIW Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The role focuses on BIW fixture design, 3D modeling, 3D finishing, and 2D detailing, offering hands-on experience with real-world automotive projects.

You will work on fixture concepts, GD&T, and integration of welding and pneumatic elements, collaborating with senior engineers to ensure quality and standards across global programs.

Qualifications

• BE or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (GTTC/NTTF) required.
• 1–4 years of experience in automotive fixture design.
• Proficiency in Catia, NX, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Develop fixture concepts, 3D finish and 2D detailing per automotive standards.
• Create concepts for Geo stations, Re-spot, Grippers, Put down and miscellaneous tools.
• Ensure quality in 3D finish and 2D detailing, and comply with design standards.
• Understand GD&T, sheet metal processes, welding and pneumatics integration.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented BIW Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in BIW fixture design, 3D modeling, 3D finishing, and 2D detailing. This is an exciting opportunity for passionate engineers to gain hands‑on experience in real‑world automotive BIW projects, work with experienced technocrats, and develop expertise in fixture design, manufacturing processes, and global automotive engineering programs.

Key Role & Responsibilities

• Develop Fixture concepts, 3D finish and 2D detailing an per Automotive Standards.
• Proficient in building concepts for Geo stations, Re-spot, Grippers, Put down and Miscellaneous Tools
• Experience in producing quality out comes on 3D finish, & 2D detailing.
• Awareness on Tier-1/OEM Design standards
• Knowledge on tolerances and materials. With ability to understand and use GD&T
• Understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes
• Good Knowledge on Welding, Reviiting and Welding Process like (Spot Welding, ARC welding)
• Understanding of Standard Cylinder selection and familiarity in pneumatics, sensors and other integration elements
• Possess proactive approach, good analytical, presentation and problem solving and skills
• Performs basic engineering calculations to verify design integrity
• Perform quality checks to avoid error in Manufacturing.

Qualification & Skills

• Education : BE / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering /GTTC / NTTF
• Experience : 1- 4 yrs
• Good Understanding of Automotive Fixture Design
• Good written & oral communication skills
